1953 Mississippi State Bulldogs Football Team
The 1953 Mississippi State Maroons football team was an American football team that represented Mississippi State College (now known as Mississippi State University) as a member of the Southeastern Conference (SEC) during the 1953 college football season. In their second year under head coach Murray Warmath, the team compiled an overall record of 5–2–3, with a mark of 3–1–3 in conference play, and placed sixth in the SEC. This would be the last season for head coach Murray Warmath, who was hired by Minnesota Golden Gophers football, Minnesota after the season, and for quarterback Jackie Parker, who went on to have a long career in the Canadian Football League, CFL. Parker would win his second SEC "Player of the Year" award by the Nashville Banner. Southeastern Conference
The Southeastern Conference (SEC) is an American college athletic conference whose member institutions are located primarily in the South Central and Southeastern United States. Its fourteen members include the flagship public universities of ten states, three additional public land-grant universities, and one private research university. The conference is headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama.
