1952–53 Panhellenic Championship
The 1952–53 Panhellenic Championship was the 17th season of the highest football league of Greece. It was the last season in which the title of champion was to be claimed by the winning clubs from the three main football associations representing the major urban centers ( Athens, Piraeus and Thessaloniki). It was also the last in which the final phase was held with the presence of only three teams, the champions of the above associations. Panhellenic Championship
The Super League Greece 1 ( el, Ελληνική Σούπερ Λιγκ 1), or Super League 1, is the highest professional association football league in Greece. The league was formed on 16 July 2006 and replaced ''Alpha Ethniki'' at the top of the Greek football league system. It consists of 14 teams and runs from August to May, with teams playing 26 games. As of May 2022, Super League Greece is ranked 15th in the UEFA coefficient, UEFA ranking of leagues, based on performances in European competitions over the last five years. Since the foundation of the first official Panhellenic Championship in 1927, only six clubs have won the title. The current champions are Olympiacos F.C., Olympiacos, based in Piraeus.
