1952–53 Baltimore Bullets Season
The 1952-53 NBA season was the Bullets' 6th season in the NBA and 9th overall season of existence. The team featured Hall of Fame center Don Barksdale. Their .229 winning percentage is the lowest of any team in the four major North American sports leagues to ever qualify for the playoffs. The Bullets never again made the playoffs, and the franchise folded midway through the 1954-55 season. Chick Reiser
Joseph Francis "Chick" Reiser (December 17, 1914 – July 29, 1996) was an American professional basketball player and coach. Reiser played college basketball for the NYU Violets and the Pratt Cannoneers. He played professionally in several leagues, including the National Basketball League (NBL), Basketball Association of America (BAA), and National Basketball Association (NBA). 1952–53 Minneapolis Lakers Season
The 1952–53 Minneapolis Lakers season was the fifth season for the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Lakers continued to be the dominant force in the league as they won the Western Division with a 48–22 record. In the playoffs, the Lakers would sweep the Indianapolis Olympians in 2 straight. In the Western Finals, the Lakers would win the first 2 games at home. Against the Fort Wayne Pistons, the Lakers were pushed to a 5th game. The series returned to Minneapolis, where the Lakers won the 5th game 74–58. In the Finals, the Lakers vanquished the New York Knickerbockers for their 2nd straight Championship, and 4th Championship overall in the franchise's first five seasons in the NBA. George Ratkovicz
George Ratkovicz (November 13, 1922 – November 10, 2008) was an American basketball player who played for five seasons in the National Basketball League and for six seasons in the National Basketball Association. He played center and forward during his career. Paul Hoffman (basketball)
Paul James Hoffman (May 5, 1925 – November 12, 1998) was an American professional basketball player. High school and college career Hoffman, a 6'2" guard/forward, attended Jasper High School in Jasper, Indiana from 1939 to 1943; his coach was the legendary Cabby O'Neill. After high school, he attended Purdue University, where he played under head coach Ward Lambert. He became the only four time First Team-All Big Ten selection in Boilermaker history and one of the first two players to be selected in the NBA draft with teammate Bulbs Ehlers. He led Purdue in scoring all four seasons and won the MVP award for his performance in the 1947 All-American All-Star game at Madison Square Garden. The Atlanta Hawks are an American professional basketball team based in Atlanta. Fred Joseph Scolari (March 1, 1922 – October 17, 2002) was an American professional basketball player. At 5'10", he played the point guard position. Though he was blind in one eye, deaf in one ear and often overweight, "Fat Freddie" excelled in basketball at Galileo High School and the University of San Francisco.
