Radio Broadcasting
Radio broadcasting is transmission of audio (sound), sometimes with related metadata, by radio waves to radio receivers belonging to a public audience. In terrestrial radio broadcasting the radio waves are broadcast by a land-based radio station, while in satellite radio the radio waves are broadcast by a satellite in Earth orbit. To receive the content the listener must have a broadcast radio receiver (''radio''). Stations are often affiliated with a radio network which provides content in a common radio format, either in broadcast syndication or simulcast or both. ''Winner Take All'', an American radio-television game show, ran from 1946 to 1952 on CBS and NBC. It was the first game show produced by the Mark Goodson-Bill Todman partnership. The series was originally hosted by Ward Wilson, but is best known for being the first game hosted by Bill Cullen. Although the game format was very simple, ''Winner Take All'' served as the genesis for many future game-show formats. It was the first game to use lockout devices, and the first to use returning champions. Davenport is a city in and the county seat of Scott County, Iowa, United States. Located along the Mississippi River on the eastern border of the state, it is the largest of the Quad Cities, a metropolitan area with a population of 384,324 and a combined statistical area population of 474,019, ranking as the 147th-largest MSA and 91st-largest CSA in the nation. KFQC
KFQC was a radio station licensed to Davenport, Iowa, United States, serving the Quad Cities area and broadcasting on 1580 kHz AM. It was last owned by Quad City Minority Broadcasters, Inc., and operated from 1952 to 1998. Established as a country music station in 1952 under the call letters KFMA and later KWNT, the frequency became home to a host of revolving formats and owners after 1982. ''December Bride'' is an American old-time radio situation comedy. It was broadcast on CBS from June 8, 1952, to September 6, 1953, replacing Jack Benny's program. CBS television broadcast a version of the program 1954–1959. Format In ''On the Air: The Encyclopedia of Old-Time Radio'', John Dunning described Lily Ruskin, the program's main character, as "the precise opposite of the stereotypical mother-in-law. A widow, Lily was a dear lady in every aspect." Other main characters in the program were Ruth Henshaw, Lily's daughter; Matt Henshaw, Ruth's husband; and their next-door neighbor, Pete Porter.
