Football (soccer)
Association football, more commonly known as football or soccer, is a team sport played between two teams of 11 players who primarily use their feet to propel the ball around a rectangular field called a pitch. The objective of the game is to score more goals than the opposition by moving the ball beyond the goal line into a rectangular framed goal defended by the opposing side. Traditionally, the game has been played over two 45 minute halves, for a total match time of 90 minutes. With an estimated 250 million players active in over 200 countries, it is considered the world's most popular sport. The game of association football is played in accordance with the Laws of the Game, a set of rules that has been in effect since 1863 with the International Football Association Board (IFAB) maintaining them since 1886. Gholam Hossein Mazloumi
Gholam Hossein Mazloumi ( fa, غلامحسین مظلومی; 13 January 1950 – 19 November 2014), nicknamed ''Sar Talaei'' ("Golden Head"), was an Iranian football player, coach and football administrator. He played for three clubs including Taj Abadan, Taj Tehran (Esteghlal), and Shahbaz FC, as well as the Iranian national team and the national youth team of Iran. He also managed Esteghlal from 1988 to 1989. During his time as a football player, he scored 37 goals for the Iran national football team and was Iran's all-time top scorer for twelve years before his record being broken by Ali Daei. He was the top scorer at the 1974 Asian Games and the 1976 AFC Asian Cup. He was chairman of Shahin Bushehr from 2011 until 2013 and also honorary deputy chairman of Esteghlal. Juan Botasso
Juan Botasso (23 October 1908 – 5 October 1950) was an Argentine footballer. He played in goal for Argentina in the 1930 FIFA World Cup final on 30 July 1930, which was lost 4–2 to Uruguay. Botasso (sometimes written Bottaso) started his career in 1927 with Argentino de Quilmes. Dietmar Danner
Dietmar Danner (born 29 November 1950) is a German former professional footballer. Club career Danner won three German championships and one DFB-Pokal title, as well as two UEFA Cup titles with Borussia Mönchengladbach, with whom he spent the majority of his playing career. Danner was a part of Mönchengladbach during their golden period playing alongside players like Günter Netzer, Rainer Bonhof, Uli Stielike, Bertie Vogts, Allan Simonsen, Herbert Wimmer and Jupp Heynckes. Danner was an all around player in an adventurous, attacking, side. His career at the club and international level was cut short by an injury in 1976. Danner never regained full fitness and only played 49 more league games, including his final 19 with Schalke 04. Asa Hartford
Richard Asa Hartford (born 24 October 1950) is a Scottish former football player and coach. He started his professional career with West Bromwich Albion. His early progress led to a proposed transfer to Leeds United in November 1971, but this collapsed when a medical examination discovered a heart condition. Hartford instead moved to Manchester City in 1974. He helped City win the 1976 League Cup Final. After a brief spell with Nottingham Forest, Hartford moved to Everton in 1979 and then had a second spell with Manchester City. After playing for Fort Lauderdale Sun, Hartford joined Norwich City. His shot resulted in the only goal of the 1985 League Cup Final. Hartford was also a regular in the Scotland national team, earning 50 caps between 1972 and 1982. Mário Sérgio (footballer, Born 1950)
Mário Sérgio Pontes de Paiva (7 September 1950 – 28 November 2016), known as Mário Sérgio, was a Brazilian football player and manager. He later became a commentator for Fox Sports Brazil, which he joined at the channel's inception in 2012. He died in the LaMia Airlines Flight 2933 accident in the Colombian village of Cerro Gordo, La Unión, Antioquia, while travelling with the Chapecoense football squad for the Copa Sudamericana finals on 28 November 2016. Carlos Caszely
Carlos Humberto Caszely Garrido (born 5 July 1950 in Santiago, Chile) is a Chilean former footballer, nicknamed "Rey del metro cuadrado" ( en, King of the square meter, pt, O Rei do Metro Quadrado), who played as a forward. Regarded as one of Chile's most important players, between 1969 and 1985, Caszely won 48 caps and scored 29 goals for the Chile national team, including participations in the 1974 and 1982 World Cups. Brian Alderson (5 May 1950 – 23 April 1997) was a Scottish footballer. He predominantly played as a winger, but was also able to play as a striker. Alderson, who was born in Dundee, began his career with local youth side Lochee Harp before becoming a professional with Coventry City. He made his league debut against Chelsea on . Danny McGrain
Daniel Fergus McGrain (born 1 May 1950) is a Scottish former professional footballer, who played for Celtic, Hamilton Academical and the Scotland national team as a right back. McGrain is regarded as one of Scotland's greatest players and throughout the 1970s and 80s as one of the best full backs in world football; sports writer Hugh McIlvanney commented, "Anybody who saw him at his best had the unmistakable impression of watching a great player, probably one who had no superior anywhere in the world."
