The 1950 All-Big Ten Conference football team consists of American football players chosen by various organizations for All-Big Ten Conference teams for the 1950 Big Nine Conference football season. The selectors for the 1950 season were the Associated Press (AP), based on a vote of the conference coaches, and the United Press (UP). 1950 Big Nine Conference Football Season
The 1950 Big Ten Conference football season was the 55th season of college football played by the member schools of the Big Ten Conference and was a part of the 1950 college football season. The 1950 Michigan Wolverines football team, under head coach Bennie Oosterbaan, won the 1950 Big Ten championship with a 6–3–1 record (4–1–1 against Big Ten opponents) and was ranked No. 9 in the final AP Poll. In the last game of the regular season, Michigan defeated Ohio State, 9–3, in the Snow Bowl, played in a blizzard, at 10 degrees above zero, on an icy field, and with winds gusting over 30 miles per hour. Bill Vohaska
William John Vohaska (May 17, 1929 – December 24, 2004) was an American football player. Vohaska was born in 1929 in Riverside, Illinois. He attended Morton High School in Cicero. He played college football for the Illinois Fighting Illini football team at the center position from 1948 to 1950. He was seleced as captain of the 1950 Illinois Fighting Illini football team that was ranked No. 11 in the final UPI poll. He was selected by the Associated Press as the first-team center on its 1950 College Football All-America Team. Illinois head coach Ray Eliot called Vohaska a "hustler and a perfectionist" and "the finest player I have ever worked with". Vohaska also competed for the Illinois wrestling team, but he forfeited his senior year of wrestling eligibility to participate in an all-star bowl game in Hawaii. Tony Momsen
Anton Henry "Tony" Momsen, Jr. (January 29, 1928 – March 6, 1994) was an American football center in the National Football League for the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Washington Redskins. He played college football at the University of Michigan in 1945, 1949 and 1950, and is most remembered for scoring the winning touchdown in the 1950 Snow Bowl game between Michigan and Ohio State. Early years Momsen was born in Toledo, Ohio in 1928. He was the son of Rose and Anton Momsen, Sr. He attended Toledo's Libbey High School where he was a star athlete in football, basketball and track. In 1944, he was selected as the first-team center on the Associated Press All-Ohio football team. Kenneth Wayne Huxhold (August 10, 1929 – December 7, 2020) was a player in the National Football League (NFL) for the Philadelphia Eagles from 1954 to 1958 as a guard. Anthony Curcillo Jr. (May 27, 1931 – December 8, 2020) was an American Grey Cup champion football player in the National Football League and Canadian Football League. Victor Felix Janowicz (February 26, 1930 – February 27, 1996) was an American football halfback in the National Football League for the Washington Redskins. He played college football at Ohio State University and was drafted in the seventh round of the 1952 NFL Draft. Janowicz was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1976. Early life Janowicz was born and raised in Elyria, Ohio as son of Polish immigrants. He went to Holy Cross Elementary School and graduated from Elyria High School.
