The 1949–50 Serie C was the twelfth edition of Serie C, the third highest league in the Italian football league system. To reduce the groups into an 18-team formula, additional relegations were added during the season. However, the plan was later partially postponed. The Serie C () is the third-highest division in the Italian football league system after the Serie B and Serie A. The Lega Italiana Calcio Professionistico (Lega Pro) is the governing body that runs the Serie C. The unification of the Lega Pro Prima Divisione and the Lega Pro Seconda Divisione as Lega Pro Divisione Unica (often also abbreviated as ''Lega Pro'') in 2014 reintroduced the format of the original Serie C that existed between 1935 and 1978 (before the split into Serie C1 and Serie C2). On 25 May 2017 the Lega Pro assembly unanimously approved the return to the original name of the competition to Serie C. Cagliari Calcio, commonly referred to as Cagliari (), is an Italian football club based in Cagliari, Sardinia. In the 2022-23 season, they compete in Serie B. Reggina 1914 S.r.l., commonly referred to as Reggina, is an Italian football club based in Reggio Calabria. Founded in 1914, they currently play in Serie B, and play their home matches at the 27,763 seater Stadio Oreste Granillo. They are nicknamed the ''amaranto'' (amaranth) after their official dark red colours. The club was formerly known as Reggina Calcio before declaring bankruptcy in 2015, as well as A.S.D. Reggio Calabria in 2015–16 season and Urbs Reggina 1914 from 2016 to 2019. Cosenza Calcio 1914
Cosenza Calcio 1914 was a professional Italian football club based in Cosenza, Calabria. It starts in 1912 when was founded Società Sportiva Fortitudo (the year 1914 is a reference to the first historic match played by the club on 23 February 1914). The club was expelled from the professional leagues in 2003, only readmitted a year later in Serie D. In 2005 the club folded, ended its 91 years of history. From 2003 to 2007 A.S. Cosenza Calcio claimed as the successor, which was relocated from nearby town. Again 2007, Fortitudo Cosenza was relocated from Rende as the new successor, and renamed to Cosenza Calcio 1914 Srl in 2008.
