Ray Gilbert
Ray Gilbert (September 5, 1912 – March 3, 1976) was an American lyricist. He grew up in Hartford, Connecticut. Career Gilbert is best remembered for the lyrics to the Oscar-winning song "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah" from the film ''Song of the South'', which he wrote with Allie Wrubel in 1947. He also wrote American English lyrics for the songs in ''The Three Caballeros'' featuring Donald Duck. He also wrote the English lyrics of the Andy Williams' 1965 hit, " ...and Roses and Roses", and "Lost in Your Love" with Sidney Miller, to music by Bert Jay. Gilbert also wrote the English lyrics for a number of songs composed by Antonio Carlos Jobim, including "Dindi," ""Amor em Paz" ("Once I Loved"), and "Inútil Paisagem" ("Useless Landscape"/"If You Never Come to Me"). Little 'Tinker
''Little 'Tinker'' is a 1948 MGM cartoon directed by Tex Avery. It was produced by Fred Quimby with the soundtrack composed by Scott Bradley. Plot The story begins at the home of B.O. Skunk, which contains many fans. B.O. takes a shower with O-Bouy soap (a parody of Lifebuoy soap, complete with its jingle) and overly douses himself with expiring perfume. Then he goes out for a walk. The flowers along the path from his home wither and fall as he passes them. As B.O. walks to the forest, he sees a pretty squirrel who calls him closer. But as B.O. goes to the squirrel with wilted flowers and she smells his stench, she runs out to her home and puts up a sign that reads "NO VACANCY". The point is that B.O. has an offensive odor from which everyone runs. B.O. then sees a pretty female rabbit. He first gives her a flower to smell, and then substitutes himself. Tex Avery
Frederick Bean "Tex" Avery (February 26, 1908 – August 26, 1980) was an American animator, cartoonist, animation director, director, and voice actor. He was known for directing and producing animated cartoons during the golden age of American animation. His most significant work was for the Warner Bros. Buccaneer Bunny
''Buccaneer Bunny'' is a 1948 '' Looney Tunes'' cartoon directed by Friz Freleng. The short was released on May 8, 1948, and features Bugs Bunny and Yosemite Sam. Plot The cartoon opens with titles featuring an instrumental of "The Sailor's Hornpipe" (also one of the theme songs to the ''Popeye'' cartoon series), seguéing to a scene of Sam digging a hole to bury his treasure on a beach. Sam is singing the stereotypical pirate shanty "Dead Man's Chest"—on the second strain, Sam switches from the typical "yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum!" to a decidedly more original "yo-ho-ho and a bottle of... Ma's old fashioned ci-''der''" with a conga kick on the last syllable and a parody of " Dad's Old-Fashioned Root Beer", a well-known radio advertising jingle at that time. Hippety Hopper
Hippety Hopper is a young kangaroo character in the Warner Bros. ''Looney Tunes'' series of cartoons. Robert McKimson introduced Hippety Hopper in ''Hop, Look and Listen'' (1948), which established the pattern for future Hippety Hopper cartoons. The character appeared in 14 theatrical cartoons between 1948 and 1964. History Hippety Hopper cartoons have a typical formula: Hopper escapes from a zoo, circus, etc., and is mistaken for a giant mouse by Sylvester the Cat. Frequently, Hopper changes places with an actual mouse, generally when it is most embarrassing for Sylvester. Sylvester tries to capture and eat his "prey", but the innocent and infantile Hippety mistakes Sylvester's predations for a game of rough-housing. The short was released on April 17, 1948, and stars Sylvester and Hippety Hopper, in the latter's first appearance. Plot Hippety Hopper escapes from a zoo, and when Sylvester first sees him, he believes that the kangaroo is actually a king-size mouse. A bulldog tries to convince the cat that there is no such thing, but when he too sees Hippety Hopper and his mother (who was searching for him), he and Sylvester hitch a ride on the water wagon. The Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film is an award given by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) as part of the annual Academy Awards, or Oscars, since the 5th Academy Awards (with different names), covering the year 1931–32, to the present. From 1932 until 1970, the category was known as Short Subjects, Cartoons; and from 1971 to 1973 as Short Subjects, Animated Films. The present title began with the 46th Awards in 1974.
