1948 Meistaradeildin
The 1948 Meistaradeildin was the sixth season of Meistaradeildin, the top tier of the Faroese football league system. B36 Tórshavn won its second championship. Teams A total of 6 teams participated in the league, facing each other once. Previous season's champions SÍ Sørvágur did not participate in the league. The same applied for SÍF Sandavágur and MB Miðvágur, who participated in the previous season. B36 and HB fielded two teams each, their first and their reserve team. The Faroe Islands Premier League (also known as ''Betri deildin menn'' for sponsorship reasons) is the top level of football in the Faroe Islands. It was founded in 1942 as Meistaradeildin, and it is played in current format since 2005, when Premier League replaced 1. deild as the country's top football division. The league is organised by the Faroe Islands Football Association. It is contested by 10 clubs. At the end of every season, two teams are relegated and two promoted from 1. deild. Havnar Bóltfelag II
Havnar Bóltfelag II, or simply HB II, is a Faroese football club based in Tórshavn. It is the reserve team of the Faroe Islands Premier League club Havnar Bóltfelag. Reserve teams in the Faroe Islands play in the same league system as their senior team, rather than in a reserve league, but they cannot play in the same division as their senior team, so HB II is ineligible for promotion to the Faroe Islands Premier League and also cannot play in the Faroe Islands Cup. Vágur
Vágur meaning ''Bay'' ( da, Våg) is a town on the island of Suðuroy, part of the Faroe Islands It is situated on the east coast of the island on the Vágsfjørður fjord, and was founded in the fourteenth century. Expansion has meant that the nearby town of Nes is now a suburb of Vágur. Vágur has a sports hall next to the football grounds on Eiðinum, near Vágseiði, a swimming pool by the school and a clinic which offers the services of doctors, nurses and dentists. There is also a hotel, one bank and various shops. The port area, which is 14 m in depth, is situated on the northern part of the fjord. The port authorities can offer services of piloting (lods), water and fire-fighting, and in connection with the harbour there is a modern fish factory and auctioneers for fish. Klaksvík
Klaksvík is the second largest town of the Faroe Islands behind Tórshavn. The town is located on Borðoy, which is one of the northernmost islands (the Norðoyar). It is the administrative centre of Klaksvík municipality. History The first settlement at Klaksvík dates back to Viking times, but it was not until the 20th century that the district merged to form a large, modern Faroese town that became a cultural and commercial centre for the Northern Isles and the Faroe Islands as a whole. Klaksvík is located between two inlets lying back to back. It has an important harbour with fishing industry and a modern fishing fleet. Originally, four farms were located where Klaksvík is now. Miðvágs Bóltfelag
Miðvágs Bóltfelag, commonly known as MB, is a Faroese football club based in Miðvágur. History The club was established in 1905. In 1993, the club merged with SÍF Sandavágur to form FS Vágar. After the merger collapsed in 2004, MB was moved to the fourth division to start over. In their first year as a senior club in over a decade, MB demolished all opposition in the fourth division, ending the year with a 7–2 thumping of HB's fourth division team, mainly consisting of veterans who at an earlier stage of their career had played for HB's first team. Notable figures in Faroese football, such as Gunnar Mohr and Kaj Leo Johannesen played on this team. MB played in the Faroese 2nd division (3rd tier), after a disappointing season in 2007, ending up in seventh place. SÍF Sandavágur is a Faroese Football club based in Sandavágur on the island of Vágar. History SÍF Sandavágur was founded in 1906; although the club is one of oldest in the Faroe Islands, SÍF only played in the top division (now Betri Deildin) three times: 1989, 1990 and 1992, since the league's creation in 1942. The best league finish in the top flight was 8th Place in 1989. In 1993, SÍF merged with MB Miðvágur to form FS Vágar. SÍ Sørvágur also became part of the merger in 1998. They played in the top league between 1995–97 and again in 2000. After the 2004 season the merger collapsed and the 3 clubs separated. After the split, SIF Sandavágur joined 3. deild (the fourth league) in the 2007 season, this was the last season they played at adult level and the club hasn't participated in the Football League since. Havnar Bóltfelag (HB, lit. 'Harbour football club') is a Faroese football club, and is one of the oldest in the Faroe Islands. The club was founded in 1904, and is based in the city of Tórshavn. Home matches are played in Gundadalur and they compete in the Faroe Islands Premier League. History HB Tórshavn was founded in October 1904. The club's first board was elected in a meeting, on 14 November 1904. The board consisted of three people: Mads Andrias Winther, Joan Pauli Joensen and Jakup Mouritsen. B36 Tórshavn ( fo, Bóltfelagið 1936 Tórshavn) is a Faroe Islands, Faroese semi professional Association football, football club based in the capital of Tórshavn, playing in the Faroe Islands Premier League, the top tier of Faroese football. B36 Tórshavn has always played its home games in Gundadalur.
