1948 Campeonato Profesional
The 1948 Campeonato Profesional was the first season of Colombia's top-flight football league. The tournament was started on August 15th, with the match Atlético Municipal against Universidad. 10 teams compete against one another and played each weekend until December 19th. Background The creation of the Colombian Football Federation dates back to 1924, but it was not until 1948 that succeeded in organizing a professional tournament. In the tournament 10 teams signed up (each had to pay a fee of 1,000 pesos): one of Barranquilla, two of Bogotá, two of Cali, two of Manizales, two of Medellín and two of Pereira. 252 players were registered as follows: 182 Colombians, 13 Argentines, 8 Peruvians, 5 Uruguayans, 2 Chileans, 2 Ecuadorians, 1 Dominican and 1 Spanish. The Categoría Primera A (), commonly referred to as Liga BetPlay Dimayor (between 2015 and 2019 ''Liga Águila'') due to sponsorship by online betting company BetPlay, is a Colombian professional league for association football clubs. It is the country's premier football tournament and sits at the top of the Colombian football league system. A total of twenty clubs compete in the league's regular season. Estadio El Campín
The Estadio Nemesio Camacho El Campín, commonly known as El Campín, is the main stadium of Bogotá, Colombia. It was inaugurated on 10 August 1938 and has a current capacity of 36,343 spectators. It is the home ground of the Categoría Primera A teams Millonarios F.C., Millonarios F.C and Independiente Santa Fe, Santa Fe. The stadium is named after Nemesio Camacho, former manager of the then-existing streetcar system of Bogotá and also the father of Luis Camacho Matiz, the person who offered the land where the stadium would be constructed. Millonarios Fútbol Club
Millonarios Fútbol Club is a professional Colombian football team based in Bogotá, that currently plays in the Categoría Primera A. They play their home games at the El Campín stadium. Millonarios was initially created in 1937 by students from the Colegio Mayor de San Bartolomé. After the team initially was unsure about which name it would want to use: Unión and Juventud were originally favoured, it got under the influence of the city administration of Bogotá and operated as ''Club Municipal de Deportes''. Estadio Palogrande is a multi-purpose stadium in Manizales, Colombia. It is currently used mostly for football (soccer) matches. With renovations made for the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Colombia the stadium capacity dropped to 32,000 people. the first Palogrande was built in 1936 and then demolishd in 1993, the current Palogrande was inaugured in 1994. Estadio Olímpico Pascual Guerrero
The Estadio Olimpico Pascual Guerrero is a football stadium, also used for athletics, concerts, and rugby sevens, in Santiago de Cali, Colombia which is named to honor the poet Pascual Guerrero. The stadium and the sports complex that surrounds it are one of the finest and most modern sports complexes in Latin America, and led to references of Cali as the "Sports Capital of America".
