National Assembly Of Cambodia
The National Assembly ( km, រដ្ឋសភា, ) is one of the two houses (chambers) of the Parliament of Cambodia. It is referred to as the lower house, with the Senate being referred to as the upper house. The National Assembly is an elected body consisting of 125 members known as Members of Parliament (MPs). Members are elected for five-year terms by party-list proportional representation, using provinces as constituencies of 1 to 18 members, and the D'Hondt method of seat distribution. A political party must secure 63 seats to obtain and preserve a majority. The National Assembly is headed by the President, currently Heng Samrin. Sisowath Youtevong ( km, អ្នកអង្គម្ចាស់ ស៊ីសុវត្ថិ យុត្តិវង្ស; 1913 – 17 July 1947) was a Cambodian prince, politician and mathematician, credited as the "Father of Cambodian Democracy", and a member of the Democratic Party. He served as the fourth Prime Minister of Cambodia from December 1946 to July 1947. He was the first to be elected prime minister. Biography Sisowath Youtevong was born in 1913 in Udong, Cambodia, as the son of Prince Chamraengvongs (1870–1916) and Princess Sisowath Yubhiphan (1877–1967). Prince Norodom Norindeth ( km, នរោត្តម នរិន្ទដេត, 1906?–1975) was a member of the royal family of Cambodia. The general election is held every five years in the fourth Sunday of July. The Parliament of Cambodia has two chambers.
