1944 United States Presidential Election In Idaho
The 1944 United States presidential election in Idaho took place on November 7, 1944, as part of the 1944 United States presidential election. State voters chose four representatives, or electors, to the Electoral College, who voted for president and vice president. Idaho was won by incumbent President Franklin D. Roosevelt ( D– New York), running with Senator Harry S. Truman, with 51.55% of the popular vote, against Governor Thomas E. Dewey ( R– New York), running with Governor John W. Bricker, with 48.07% of the popular vote. The election of the president and the vice president of the United States is an indirect election in which citizens of the United States who are registered to vote in one of the fifty U.S. states or in Washington, D.C., cast ballots not directly for those offices, but instead for members of the Electoral College. Franklin County is a county located in the U.S. state of Idaho. As of the 2020 Census the county had a population of 14,194. The county seat and largest city is Preston. As of the 2020 census, the county had a population of 123,964, making it the fourth-most populous county in Idaho and the most populous in eastern Idaho.
