The Serie B (), currently named Serie Balkrishna Industries, BKT for sponsorship reasons, is the second-highest division in the Italian football league system after the Serie A. It has been operating for over ninety years since the 1929–30 Serie B, 1929–30 season. It had been organized by Lega Nazionale Professionisti, Lega Calcio until 2010, when the Lega Serie B was created for the 2010–11 season. Common nicknames for the league are ''campionato cadetto'' and ''cadetteria'', since ''cadetto'' is the Italian name for junior or cadet. Anconitana
Associazione Calcio Ancona, commonly referred to as Ancona, was an Italian football club based in Ancona, Marche. It was founded in 2004 as the phoenix club of defunct 1905 club Unione Sportiva Anconitana, which changed its name to Ancona Calcio in 1982. It used clause in the Article 52 of N.O.I.F.) with its last denomination. In 2010 it went bankrupt. Another club of the city, U.S. Ancona 1905 claimed as the phoenix club. 1946–47 Serie B
The Serie B 1946–47 championship was organized by the Lega Calcio with geographical criteria: for this reason the three groups have different numbers of participants. Teams 26 clubs had variously qualified for this championship, following the results of both 1942–43 and 1945–46 seasons. However, war damages and political choices imposed to divide the old Serie B between Northern and Southern Italy. Consequently, 20 Northern clubs from the previous Serie B-C and 14 selected teams from Southern Italy were added.
