Bob Barker
Robert William Barker (born December 12, 1923) is an American retired television game show host. He is known for hosting CBS's '' The Price Is Right'' from 1972 to 2007, making it the longest-running daytime game show in North American television history. He is also known for hosting '' Truth or Consequences'' from 1956 to 1975. Born in Darrington, Washington, in modest circumstances, Barker enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II. He worked part-time in radio while attending college. In 1950, he moved to California to pursue a broadcasting career. He was given his own radio show, ''The Bob Barker Show'', which ran for six years. He began his game show career in 1956, hosting ''Truth or Consequences''. Helen Sioussat
Helen Johnson Doyle Sioussat (February 11, 1902 - December 2, 1995) was a network executive in the early days of American television, serving as CBS radio's director of talks and public affairs from 1937 to 1958. She created, and was the host of, the first roundtable discussion program on television. Early years The daughter of Maurice Joseph Talleyrand Sioussat, she was born in Baltimore and was raised by her aunt after her mother's death when Sioussat was seven years old. CBS Television Quiz
''CBS Television Quiz'' is a televised game show, running from July 2, 1941, to January 7, 1943, on the CBS television station in New York, WCBW Channel 2 (the forerunner of WCBS-TV). It was the first game show to be broadcast regularly on television. It was an in-house production and broadcast in black and white. The host was Gil Fates, with Frances Buss as scorekeeper. Game play The ''CBS Television Quiz'' followed an answer-and-question format: contestants were given a clue and were asked to provide a question that the clue would answer. Beyond this, little is known about the show's mechanics. The game show ''Jeopardy!'' would later use a similar answer-and-question conceit. Joan Edwards (radio Singer)
Joan Edwards (February 13, 1919 – August 27, 1981) was an American film actress and singer-songwriter in the old-time radio era. She was perhaps best known for her work on the radio version of ''Your Hit Parade''. She also was a vocalist for Paul Whiteman and his Orchestra. Early years Edwards' father was Ben Edwards, a music publisher and talent agent. Music ran in her family; uncle Gus Edwards was a vaudeville entertainer, uncle Leo Edwards wrote music, and aunt Dorothy Edwards was a vocal teacher. Despite the family's show business background, she was urged to go in a different direction. In fact, Gus Edwards told her, "Stay out of show business." Professional wrestling is a form of theater that revolves around staged wrestling matches. The mock combat is performed in a ring similar to the kind used in boxing, and the dramatic aspects of pro wrestling may be performed both in the ring or—as in televised wrestling shows—in backstage areas of the venue, in similar form to reality television.
