1938–39 Cypriot Cup
The 1938–39 Cypriot Cup was the fifth edition of the Cypriot Cup. A total of 7 clubs entered the competition. It began on 23 April 1939 with the preliminary round and concluded on 16 July 1939 with the final which was held at GSP Stadium. AEL won their 1st Cypriot Cup trophy after beating APOEL 3–1 in the final. Format In the 1938–39 Cypriot Cup, participated all the teams of the Cypriot First Division. The competition consisted of four knock-out rounds. In all rounds each tie was played as a single leg and was held at the home ground of the one of the two teams, according to the draw results. Each tie winner was qualifying to the next round. If a match was drawn, extra time was following. If extra time was drawn, there was a replay match. Cypriot Cup
The Cypriot Cup () is the main cup competition in Cypriot football, run by the Cyprus Football Association (CFA). It began in 1934, the same season with the Cypriot Championship. It is the second most important competition for Cypriot club teams after Cypriot Championship. Only the Cypriot First Division and the second division teams are participating in the competition. The sponsor of the competition since 1962 is Coca-Cola and thus officially known as Cyprus Coca-Cola Cup. The 1939–40 Cypriot Cup was the sixth edition of the Cypriot Cup. A total of 6 clubs entered the competition. It began on 14 January 1940 with the quarterfinals and concluded on 18 February 1940 with the replay final which was held at GSP Stadium. AEL won their 2nd Cypriot Cup trophy after beating Pezoporikos 3–1 in the final. Format In the 1939–40 Cypriot Cup, participated all the teams of the Cypriot First Division. EPA Larnaca (, ''Enosis Pezoporikou Amol'') was a Cypriot football club based in the city of Larnaca. Founded in 1930 with the merge of two local clubs, Pezoporikos and AMOL, the club was a founding member of Cyprus Football Association and participated in the first Cypriot Championship in 1934/35. Few years later, Pezoporikos was re-established. The golden era of the club was in the period 1944–1946, when the team won the Double in two consecutive seasons. The Pancyprian Gymnastic Association Stadium (GSP Stadium) ( el, Στάδιο Γυμναστικός Σύλλογος "Τα Παγκύπρια") was a football stadium in Nicosia, Cyprus. It had a capacity of 12,000 and was built in 1902 with donations given by Greek Cypriot Nicosians.
