1937–38 National Football League (Ireland)
The 1937–38 National Football League was the 11th staging of the National Football League (NFL), an annual Gaelic football tournament for the Gaelic Athletic Association county teams of Ireland. Mayo won the league for the fifth year in a row, beating Meath in the final. This season was notable for featuring the first commentary by Mícheál Ó hEithir, who, along with four others, did a test commentary on Dublin v. Louth in May 1938. Dr Kiernan was so impressed by Ó hEithir's performance that he allowed him to commentate on the entire second half. ɗ Format There were two divisions – Division 1 and Division 2. Paddy Moclair
Paddy Moclair (1 September 1907 – 9 May 1983) was an Irish Gaelic footballer who played as a full-forward and as a full-back at senior level for the Mayo county team. After retiring from Gaelic football he was a leading greyhound trainer. Gaelic football career Moclair joined the team during the 1930 championship and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement following the conclusion of the 1942 championship. During that time he won one All-Ireland medal, seven Connacht medals, six National League medals and one All-Time All Star Award. Moclair experienced a fourteen-year club career with Castlebar Mitchels and Ballina Stephenites, winning nine county championship medals. Retirement After retiring from Gaelic football he took up the training of racing greyhounds and gained a good reputation. Austin Stack Park
Austin Stack Park is a GAA stadium in Tralee, County Kerry, Ireland. It is one of the stadiums used by Kerry GAA's Gaelic football team and the stadium of the hurling team. The ground was named after Austin Stack, an Irish revolutionary and captain of the All-Ireland winning Kerry Gaelic football team of 1904. It is located in the centre of Tralee.
