Christian X Of Denmark
Christian X ( da, Christian Carl Frederik Albert Alexander Vilhelm; 26 September 1870 – 20 April 1947) was King of Denmark from 1912 to his death in 1947, and the only King of Iceland as Kristján X, in the form of a personal union rather than a real union between 1918 and 1944. He was a member of the House of Glücksburg, a branch of the House of Oldenburg, and the first monarch since King Frederick VII born into the Danish royal family; both his father and his grandfather were born as princes of a ducal family from Schleswig. Among his siblings was King Haakon VII of Norway. His son became Frederick IX of Denmark. His character has been described as authoritarian and he strongly stressed the importance of royal dignity and power. His reluctance to fully embrace democracy resulted in the Easter Crisis of 1920, in which he dismissed the democratically elected Social Liberal cabinet with which he disagreed, and installed one of his own choosing. Carl William Hansen
Carl William Hansen (11 October 1872 – 3 August 1936) was a Danish dairy farmer, Luciferian, wandering bishop, and occultist. Born in Copenhagen and first initiated into Martinism in 1898 by Alphonse Wallen, Hansen used the pseudonym Ben Kadosh to publish ''Den ny morgens gry: verdensbygmesterens genkomst'' ("The Dawn of a New Morning: The Return of the World's Master Builder") in 1906. Inspired by the French Gnostic movement, and such writers as Carl Kohl, his major interests seems to have been alchemy and astrology. Thomas Bærentzen
Thomas Vilhelm Bærentzen (1869-1936) was a Danish sculptor. He created the large relief above the main entrance of Odense Theatre in Odense, as well as reliefs on a number of churches. He was for a while married to the writer Emma Bærentzen in the 1910s. Early life and education Bærentzen was born in Copenhagen, the son of a captain and later naval commander and city councillor, Alexander Christian Riber Bærentzen (1830-1920) and Anna Rosa Elise Magnussen (1841-1920). He studied drawing privately in Frederik Hammeleff's studio. He enrolled at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1887 but left in 1889, and was instead educated privately in Stephan Sinding Stephan Abel Sinding (4 August 1846 – 23 January 1922) was a Norwegian-Danish sculptor. Johan Skjoldborg
Johan Skjoldborg (27 April 1861 – 22 February 1936) was a Danish educator, novelist, playwright and memoirist. Biography Johan Martinus Nielsen Skjoldborg was born in the parish of Øsløs in Thisted in north Jutland, Denmark. He was educated in Nibe and later trained as a teacher at Ranum Seminarium in Ranum. He was employed as a school teacher until he resigned in 1902. In his later years he lived in a house which was donated to him in Løgstør Løgstør is a town in Denmark with a population of 3,967 (1 January 2022) It is located 47 km west of Aalborg and 64 km north of Viborg. Louis Glass
Louis Christian August Glass (23 March 1864 – 22 January 1936) was a Danish composer. Glass, born in Copenhagen, was an almost exact contemporary of Carl Nielsen and, like Nielsen, was a student of Niels Gade. However, Glass also studied at the Brussels Conservatory, where he became enamored of the music of César Franck and Anton Bruckner, both of whom stylistically influenced his writing. For several years, he was one of Denmark's leading concert pianists until a paralysis in one arm made him retire from the stage. He then devoted himself primarily to composing. He composed in most genres and wrote several chamber music works of worth, including four string quartets, a string sextet, a piano trio, a piano quintet and several instrumental sonatas. He wrote six symphonies (1893–1926), which have been recorded on the Danacord and CPO record labels, while some chamber music has been recorded on Da Capo. Glass died in Copenhagen. Knud Enemark Jensen
Knud Enemark Jensen (30 November 1936 – 26 August 1960) was a Danish cyclist who died while participating in the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome, Italy. During his career, he was involved in an early doping scandal. Biography Jensen was born in Aarhus. In 1960 he was the winner of the individual Nordic Championship, as well as a member of the Danish team that won the silver medal in the team time trial at that event. The Olympic 100 km team time trial road race was held in 40 degrees Celsius/104 degrees Fahrenheit heat on Viale Cristoforo Colombo in Rome. One of the four-man Danish team, Jorgen B. Jorgensen, dropped out of the race due to sunstroke after the first lap, necessitating that all three remaining Danish cyclists finish the race for the team not to be disqualified.
