1934 VFA Season
The 1934 Victorian Football Association season was the 56th season of the Australian rules football competition. The premiership was won by the Northcote Football Club, after it defeated Coburg by 61 points in the Grand Final on 6 October. It was the club's fourth VFA premiership, and the third in a sequence of three premierships won consecutively from 1932 until 1934; Coburg was defeated in all three Grand Finals in the sequence. The season was threatened by a dispute in the off-season between the Association and the local councils which controlled many of the suburban home venues relating to the use of Olympic Park as a central ground; there were ultimately no disruptions after the dispute was resolved shortly before the start of the season. Northcote Football Club
Northcote Football Club (/ˈnoːθ.kət/), nicknamed The Dragons, was an Australian rules football club which played in the VFA from 1908 until 1987. The club's colours for most of its time in the VFA were green and yellow and it was based in the Melbourne suburb of Northcote. History The earliest mentions of a Northcote Football Club club appear in mid 1869. The club was established as a junior club, and it initially contested the Victorian Junior Football Association. The club played its games at Croxton Park until 1903, before moving to Northcote Park in 1904. The club was successful at junior level during the 1900s, winning premierships in 1904 and 1906. Yarraville Football Club
Yarraville Football Club was an Australian rules football club founded in 1903 and played in the VJFA until 1927. In 1928, the club joined the Victorian Football Association where it played until 1984 when the club went into recess. In 1996, the Kingsville Football Club in the Western Region Football League who by this time had taken over the Yarraville ground changed their name to Yarraville. In 2007 the Yarraville Football Club merged with the Seddon Football Club to become the Yarraville Seddon Eagles. Recorder Cup
The J. J. Liston Trophy is awarded annually to the best and fairest senior player in the Victorian Football League (formerly the Victorian Football Association). It is named after J.J. Liston, a businessman, civic leader and sports administrator who was fundamental in advancing sport in Australia, particularly Australian Rules Football and Soccer. History The first award for the Association best and fairest player was the Woodham Cup, named after committeeman Alf Woodham, which was first awarded in 1923. The Woodham Cup was renamed the Recorder Cup, named after the Association's official match-day publication, in 1926. Starting from 1933, a second award, the V.F.A. Danny Warr
Daniel John Warr (22 October 1905 – 27 August 1972) was an Australian rules footballer who played for St Kilda in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Warr spent two seasons at St Kilda and his 37 games consisted of one final in 1929. He was a goal-kicking rover and managed 24 goals in each of his two years at the club. After captain-coaching Rochester in 1930, Warr returned to his original club Preston. He won a Recorder Cup in 1934, captain-coached them in 1935 and topped Preston's goal-kicking every year from 1932 to 1935 (54, 37, 57 and 42 goals respectively). His coaching career continued with stints at Camperdown(1937-1939) and Finley. After the war he moved to Canberra and was in charge of Eastlake from 1947 to 1953 with the exception of 1951 which he spent at Turner. 1932 VFA Season
The 1932 Victorian Football Association season was the 54th season of the Australian rules football competition. The premiership was won by the Northcote Football Club, after it defeated Coburg by 26 points in the final on 24 September. It was the club's second VFA premiership, and the first in a sequence of three premierships won consecutively from 1932 until 1934. Alex Duncan
George Robert Alexander Duncan ( – ) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Carlton in the Victorian Football League, for Stratford in the Gippsland Football League, for Coburg Football Club in the Victorian Football Association, and for Havelock in the Industrial Football League (at the age of 36). Duncan made his debut for Carlton in Round 1 of the 1921 season. He retired from VFL football in 1930, having played 141 senior games for Carlton, and four interstate games for Victoria. He is especially remembered for his performance in "Duncan's match". Bob Ross (Australian Footballer)
Bob Ross (17 August 1908 – 3 July 1988) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Collingwood in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Ross was unable to establish himself in the Collingwood team from the limited opportunities that he got. Such was the strength of the side that they were premiers in the first two seasons Ross played and he only experienced a loss once. Ralph Augustus Goullet (25 January 1904 – 24 December 1993) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Hawthorn in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Williamstown Football Club
The Williamstown Football Club, nicknamed The Seagulls, is an Australian rules football club based in Melbourne.
