1931 VFL Grand Final
The 1931 VFL Grand Final was an Australian rules football game contested between the Geelong Football Club and Richmond Football Club, held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne on 10 October 1931. It was the 33rd annual Grand Final of the Victorian Football League, staged to determine the premiers for the 1931 VFL season. The match, attended by 60,712 spectators, was won by Geelong by a margin of 20 points, making it the club's second VFL premiership victory. The triumph has become legendary because it was the first, and only, season that Geelong was coached by Charlie Clymo. Jack Williams (31 January 1902 – 14 October 1976) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Geelong in the Victorian Football League The Victorian Football League (VFL) is an Australian rules football league in Australia serving as one of the second-tier regional semi-professional competitions which sit underneath the fully professional Australian Football League (AFL). Frank Mockridge
Albert Frank Mockridge (21 October 1903 – 27 March 1990) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Geelong in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Mockridge came to Geelong from Chilwell and was used mostly as a defender during his league career. Edward Richard Baker (21 January 1901 – 22 July 1986) was an Australian rules footballer who played with four clubs in the Victorian Football League (VFL), mainly for Geelong and Collingwood. Len Metherell
William Leonard Metherell (17 November 1908 – 30 October 1992) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Geelong in the VFL during the 1930s. Metherell started his career in 1927 at Western Australian club Subiaco and topped their goalkicking with 49 goals. He went on to play 45 games for the club before transferring to Geelong. In his debut season for Geelong he played in a losing Grand Final and in the following year, 1931, he was a member of Geelong's premiership side. Mostly a support ruckman, Metherell also rested a lot in defence and was joined by his younger brother Jack in 1932. He liked to crash through packs and was a regular exponent of the drop punt. Arthur Emmett 'Bull' Coghlan (16 August 1902 – 8 June 1959) was an Australian rules footballer who played for and coached Geelong in the VFL. Tommy Quinn
Thomas James Quinn (11 August 1908 – 11 November 1969) was a leading Australian rules footballer of the 1920s and 1930s, playing for Port Adelaide Football Club and Geelong Football Club. Born in Birkenhead, South Australia, the son of former Port Adelaide captain John Quinn, Sr. and the older brother of dual Magarey Medallist Bob, Quinn showed aptitude for football from a young age, and standing 170 cm tall and built like a tank, Quinn made his South Australian National Football League (SANFL) debut for Port as a rover in 1928. George Moloney
George Michael Moloney (7 August 1909 – 5 January 1983) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the Claremont Football Club in the West Australian National Football League (WANFL) and for the Geelong Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Bob Troughton
Robert Troughton (17 June 1904 – 17 August 1988) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Geelong in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the early 1930s. Leslie Francis Hardiman (1 April 1911 – 29 June 1962) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the Geelong Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL) and for the Subiaco Football Club in the Western Australian National Football League (WANFL).
