Sir Albert Bennett, 1st Baronet
Sir Albert James Bennett, 1st Baronet JP (17 September 1872 – 14 December 1945) was a politician in the United Kingdom who was elected both as a Liberal Party Member of Parliament (MP) and as a Conservative Party MP. Biography From 1914 to 1919, he was Controller of Propaganda, Central and South America. As a Liberal, in 1918 he unsuccessfully contested the Chippenham constituency in Wiltshire. At the 1922 general election he stood in Mansfield, unseating the Labour MP William Carter. However, he lost the Mansfield seat at the 1923 general election, and in 1924 he was elected as a Conservative in the Nottingham Central seat. He was re-elected in 1929, but resigned from Parliament the following year following bankruptcy. He took possession of Kirklington Hall, Nottinghamshire, in 1920. Edwin King Perkins
Colonel Sir Edwin King Perkins, CBE, VD (28 February 1855 – 8 January 1937) was a British Conservative Party politician. Perkins was an officer in the Volunteer Force, serving in the Hampshire Regiment where he was lieutenant-colonel in command of the 2nd volunteer battalion, and held the honorary rank of colonel. He resigned his commission with the Hampshire regiment on 3 December 1902, and received the Volunteer Decoration (VD) for his service. He was also appointed a captain in the Reserve on 29 June 1887, from which he resigned on 22 November 1902. At the 1918 general election, he unsuccessfully contested the two-seat Southampton constituency, when both seats were won by Coalition Liberals. At the 1922 general election, when the coalition government had been dissolved, Perkins and the other Conservative candidate Lord Apsley won both seats, defeating the Liberal incumbents. Sydney Evershed
Sir Sydney Herbert Evershed (13 January 1861 – 7 March 1937) was an English brewer and cricketer who played first-class cricket for Derbyshire from 1880 to 1901 and was a long-serving club captain from 1891 to 1898. Evershed was born in Stapenhill, the son of Sydney Evershed the brewer and MP for Burton. He was educated at Clifton College where he was in the School XI and XV. Evershed played cricket for Burton on Trent and for Staffordshire in 1878s. His Derbyshire career began in 1880 and he appeared in a Gentlemen of Derbyshire team during the 1880 season, in which he made 85 in the first innings before being bowled. Three days later he made his first appearance for Derbyshire against Yorkshire, though he was out for a duck in his first innings. Sir James Malcolm Monteith Erskine (18 July 1863 – 5 November 1944), sometimes referred to as J. M. M. Erskine, was a British politician. First elected at a Westminster St George's by-election in 1921 as an Anti-Waste League candidate, then returned a second time as an Independent Conservative, Erskine went on to be returned twice more as an unopposed official Conservative. Sir Julien Cahn, 1st Baronet (21 October 1882 – 26 September 1944) was a British businessman, philanthropist and cricket enthusiast. Early life and family Cahn was born in Cardiff in 1882 to parents of German Jewish descent. His father, Albert Cahn (1856–1921), was born in the small village of Russheim in the Germersheim (district), Germersheim district, Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis. He married Matilda Lewis (d. 1921), daughter of Dr Sigismund Lewis of Liverpool, who had also emigrated from Germany. George Broadbridge, 1st Baron Broadbridge
George Thomas Broadbridge, 1st Baron Broadbridge, (13 February 1869 – 17 April 1952), was a British Conservative Party politician, most prominently in the City of London. Broadbridge was sometime Alderman of the Candlewick Ward of the City and then Sheriff of the City of London from 1933 to 1934 and became Master of the Worshipful Company of Gardeners that year. He then became Lord Mayor of London in 1936 and on leaving that office a year later, was created a baronet. He was elected unopposed as Member of Parliament (MP) for the City of London at a by-election in April 1938, and held the seat until September 1945 when he was raised to the peerage as Baron Broadbridge. On his death in 1952, he was succeeded in the title by his son Eric. In 1933, he acquired a Queen Anne building, Lichfield House, in Richmond which he demolished and replaced by two blocks of flats, Lichfield Court, totalling 211 flats in all.
