1929 Brownlow Medal
The 1929 Brownlow Medal was the sixth year the award was presented to the player adjudged the fairest and best player during the Victorian Football League (VFL) home and away season. Albert Collier of the Collingwood Football Club won the medal by polling six votes during the 1929 VFL season. A new provision was introduced to suspend Brownlow Medal voting during rounds when the state team was active to avoid disadvantaging the players selected in the team. This provision was not repeated in future years. Albert Collier
Albert Collier, also known as Leeter Collier (9 July 1909 – 22 February 1988), was an Australian rules footballer in the (then) Victorian Football League. Personal life Albert Collier was born on 9 July 1909 in Collingwood, the seventh of the ten children of Albert Augustus Collier, signwriter, and his wife Hannah Josephine, née Binks, Albert grew up living opposite Victoria Park, the home ground of the Collingwood Football Club and was educated at the nearby Victoria Park State School. He later married Mavis Thelma Leibie (1917–2003) and they had two sons. Albert Collier died in 1988 at his home in Seaford and is buried at Frankston Cemetery. Jack "Skinny" Titus (9 March 1908 – 19 April 1978) was an Australian rules football player who played in the Victorian Football League (VFL) between 1926 and 1943 for the Richmond Football Club. Charles John Cameron (22 November 1907 – 12 February 1960) was an Australian rules footballer who played with North Melbourne and Fitzroy in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Cameron, who played as a wingman, joined North Melbourne in just their second VFL season. Henry Francis "Soapy" Vallence (4 June 1905 – 25 July 1991) was a champion Australian rules footballer in the Victorian Football League (VFL) and the Victorian Football Association (VFA). Ernest Benjamin 'Tich' Utting (31 October 1897 – 21 November 1948) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the Collingwood Football Club and Hawthorn Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Arthur Ludlow
Arthur Edward Ludlow (22 July 1906 – 28 November 1968) was an Australian rules footballer who played with St Kilda in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Biography Ludlow was born in Northcote, Victoria on 22 July 1906. Football Ludlow played for Collingwood District before he joined Preston in the 1926 VFA season. A ruckman, he remained with Preston in the 1927 season, after which he was recruited by St Kilda. Debuting for St Kilda in the opening round, Ludlow did not miss a game for his new club in 1928. Jack Laurie Collins (13 February 1910 – 1 March 1972) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Geelong in the VFL during the 1930s.
