Carlos Ibáñez Del Campo
General Carlos Ibáñez del Campo (; 3 November 1877 – 28 April 1960) was a Chilean Army officer and political figure. He served as President twice, first between 1927 and 1931, and then from 1952 to 1958, serving for 10 years in office. The coups of 1924 and 1925 The presidency of Arturo Alessandri saw a rise in popular discontent over an inefficient government. In 1924, the Chilean armed forces, led by General Luis Altamirano, began the ''saber-rattling'' (''ruido de sables''), a protest where soldiers banged their sabers against the floor of the Congress. Amid threats from the armed forces, Alessandri decided he could no longer govern and submitted his resignation. Although this resignation was not approved by Congress, Alessandri left the country and Altamirano established a military junta. However, another faction of the armed forces, led by Colonel Marmaduke Grove and Lieutenant Colonel Ibáñez, decided the junta's reforms did not go far enough in ending the govern ...

1928 Talca Earthquake
The 1928 Talca earthquake occurred on 1 December at near Curepto, Maule Region, Chile, with an estimated magnitude of 7.6 MW, 8.3 MS and 7.9 ML. In Talca, it lasted 1 minute 45 seconds. There was damage between Valparaíso and Concepción, and severe damage on the coast from Cauquenes to Pichilemu, and in the following cities in the Chilean Central Valley: Talca, Curicó and San Fernando. In Talca there were 108 dead, 67 in Constitución, and 50 in the surrounding villages. Soon after the earthquake, the Barahona dam, in the valley of Cachapoal River, that contained copper tailings, collapsed, killing 54 miners. In total, there were 279 dead, 1,083 wounded and 127,043 homeless. Raimundo Infante
Raimundo Infante Rencoret (2 February 1928 – 7 September 1986) was a Chilean football forward who played for Chile in the 1950 FIFA World Cup. He also played for Club Deportivo Universidad Católica. Career A historical player of Universidad Católica, he is one of the most prolific goalscorer in the club history with 113 goals. He also had stints in France with FC Rouen (1951) and Venezuela with Deportivo Vasco (1953). At international level, he made 13 appearances and scored three goals for the Chile national team from 1947 to 1950. Personal life Infante joined Club Deportivo Universidad Católica in 1946 being a student of architecture at the university of the same name. Ian Campbell (rugby Player)
Ian Campbell (15 May 1928 – 11 November 2022) was a Chilean rugby union footballer, of Scottish descent. He played as a fly-half and a centre. He is considered one of the best Chilean rugby players of all time, and was inducted into the IRB Hall of Fame in 2012. Early life His father, Colin Campbell, was a Scottish-born emigrant, businessman, and amateur football player, who had played for Chile in the 1910 South American Championship. Career Campbell followed in the rugby footsteps of his older brother Donald Campbell, a Chile international who had been killed in action in 1944 while serving with the Royal Air Force. Hernán García de Gonzalo de Tejada y Vidal (born December 23, 1928), is a retired Chilean diplomat and academic. A former Provost of the University of Chile (1975-1980), former Consul General of Thailand in Chile, Vice-minister of Planning of Chile, and Economist for the United Nations. As the Provost of the University of Chile he was awarded special recognition by NASA, the University of Chile Council of Deans awarded him the Andrés Bello Medal.
