1927 (band)
1927 are an Australian pop rock band formed in 1987 with James Barton on drums, Bill Frost on bass guitar, his brother Garry Frost on guitar and keyboards, and Eric Weideman on vocals, guitar and keyboards. They were popular in the late 1980s and early 1990s with their major hit songs "That's When I Think of You", " If I Could", " Compulsory Hero" and " Tell Me a Story". Their multi-platinum number-one album, '' ...ish'' (1988) was followed by '' The Other Side'' (1990). At the ARIA Music Awards of 1989 they won two categories: Breakthrough Artist – Album for ''...ish'' and Breakthrough Artist – Single for "That's When I Think of You". At the 1990 ceremony they won Best Video for " Compulsory Hero", which was directed by Geoff Barter. Sydney Entertainment Centre
Sydney Entertainment Centre (later known as Qantas Credit Union Arena) was a multi-purpose arena located in Haymarket, Sydney, Australia. It opened in May 1983, to replace Sydney Stadium, which had been demolished in 1970 to make way for the Eastern Suburbs railway line. The centre was owned by the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority, which administered the neighbouring Darling Harbour area, and managed under a lease. It was one of Sydney's larger concert venues, licensed to accommodate over 13,000 people as a conventional theatre or 8,000 as a theatre-in-the-round. It was the largest permanent concert venue in Sydney until 1999, when the Sydney Super Dome opened at Sydney Olympic Park. The venue averaged attendances of 1 million people each year and hosted concerts, family shows, sporting events and corporate events. It was demolished in 1 January 2016. The Nine Network (stylised 9Network, commonly known as Channel Nine or simply Nine) is an Australian commercial free-to-air television network. Mark Opitz
Mark Opitz (born 1952) is an Australian record producer and audio engineer. He started his career with Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) in 1971. He has produced AC/DC, the Angels, Australian Crawl, Cold Chisel, Divinyls and INXS. He has won the ARIA Award for Producer of the Year in 1987 and 1988. He had previously won Best Australian Producer at the ''Countdown'' Awards for his work in 1980, 1982, 1985 and 1986. On 8 June 2020 he was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for "significant service to the performing arts, particularly to music production." In August of that year he was listed as one of The 7 Most Influential Music Producers of All Time by ''Mixdown Magazine''s David Tomisch and Will Brewster. Ian McFarlane (born 1959) is an Australian music journalist, music historian and author, whose best known publication is the '' Encyclopedia of Australian Rock and Pop'' (1999), which was updated for a second edition in 2017. As a journalist he started in 1984 with '' Juke'', a rock music newspaper. During the early 1990s he worked for Roadrunner Records while he published a music guide, ''The Australian New Music Record Guide Volume 1: 1976–1980'' (1992). He followed with two fanzines, ''Freedom Train'' and ''Prehistoric Sounds'', both issued during 1994 to 1996. McFarlane's ''The Encyclopedia of Australian Rock and Pop'' is described by the ''Australian Music Guide'' as "the most exhaustive and wide-ranging encyclopedia of Australian music from the 1950s onwards". Charles Fisher (producer)
Charles Fisher is an Australian record producer, often referred to as "The Song Doctor." He is widely known as the producer of Savage Garden's eponymous album which yielded 10 ARIAs (including Producer of the Year, Engineer of the Year and a Special Achievement Award for himself) in 1997. " I Want You", a single from the aforementioned album also won a Channel V award in India.
