1926 Nicaraguan Presidential Election
Presidential elections were held in Nicaragua on 11 November 1926. Background On 25 October 1925, former President Emiliano Chamorro Vargas, the losing candidate in the previous presidential election, seized La Loma fortress dominating Managua and informed the American Minister that his purpose was to drive the Liberals from the Cabinet and restore the Conservative Party to office. Vargas argued that the unconstitutional procedures in the election of the Solórzano- Juan Bautista Sacasa administration voided the nonrecognition obligations of the 1923 treaty. He did not mention but everyone knew that in 1920 Vargas, as outgoing president, had insured the election of his uncle through a dishonest election. The American Minister at once informed General Vargas that he would not recognize any government assuming power by force. Nicaragua

Lawrence Dennis
Lawrence Dennis (December 25, 1893 – August 20, 1977) was a mixed-race American diplomat, consultant and author. He advocated fascism in America after the Great Depression, arguing that liberal capitalism was doomed and one-party planning of the economy was essential. Early life Dennis was born in Atlanta, Georgia. He was of mixed race, but he concealed that as a teenager and instead passed as a white man until his death—even his wife and daughters did not know. Following a notable career as a child evangelist, he was sent to Phillips Exeter Academy and then to Harvard University. During World War I, Dennis commanded a company of military police in France. He graduated from Harvard in 1920 and entered the foreign service. The turning point of his life came when he served in Nicaragua. Adolfo Díaz
Adolfo Díaz Recinos (15 July 1875 in Alajuela, Costa Rica – 29 January 1964 in San José, Costa Rica) served as the President of Nicaragua between 9 May 1911 and 1 January 1917 and again between 14 November 1926 and 1 January 1929. Born in Costa Rica to Nicaraguan parents in 1875, he worked as a secretary for the La Luz y Los Angeles Mining Company, an American company chartered in Delaware that owned the large gold mines around La Sinua, Nicaragua, Siuna in eastern Nicaragua. Bartolomé Martínez González (1860 in Jinotega – 30 January 1936 in Matagalpa) was Nicaraguan politician from the Conservative Party. He was coffee grower. He served as Vice President of Nicaragua from January 1921 to October 1923. After the death of Diego Manuel Chamorro, and after a brief period of 15 days where the Interior Minister, Rosendo Chamorro Oreamuno held office, while waiting for Martínez to return to the capital, he was sworn in to serve the remainder of Chamorro's term as President of Nicaragua from 27 October 1923 to 1 January 1925. Emiliano Chamorro Vargas
Emiliano Chamorro Vargas (11 May 1871 – 26 February 1966) was a Nicaraguan military figure and politician who served as President of Nicaragua from 1 January 1917 to 1 January 1921, and again as interim president from 14 March to 11 November 1926. Biography Early political career In 1839, Chamorro participated in the failed revolution to topple liberal President José Santos Zelaya. When Zelaya was finally removed in a 1909 coup led by Juan José Estrada, Chamorro became Chairman of the Constituent Assembly and leader of the country's Conservative Party. As a reward for his assistance in defeating the revolt against President Adolfo Díaz, Chamorro was appointed Nicaragua's Minister to the United States.
