President Of The Republic Of China
The president of the Republic of China, now often referred to as the president of Taiwan, is the head of state of the Republic of China (ROC), as well as the commander-in-chief of the Republic of China Armed Forces. The position once had authority of ruling over Mainland China, but its remaining jurisdictions has been limited to Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen, Matsu and other smaller islands since the conclusion of Second Chinese Civil War. Originally elected by the National Assembly, the presidency was intended to be a ceremonial office with no real executive power as the ROC was originally envisioned as a parliamentary republic. Since the 1996 presidential election, the president is directly elected by plurality voting to a four-year term, with incumbents limited to serving two terms. Changzhou ( Changzhounese: ''Zaon Tsei'', ) is a prefecture-level city in southern Jiangsu province, China. It was previously known as Yanling, Lanling and Jinling. Peng Shilu
Peng Shilu (; 18 November 1925 – 22 March 2021) was a Chinese nuclear engineer. Hailed as "the father of China's nuclear submarines" and the "father of China's naval nuclear propulsion", he was the first chief designer of the country's nuclear submarine project, directing his team to build China's first generation of nuclear submarines ( Type 091 and Type 092). He was also the main designer for China's first nuclear power plants, and was an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. He served as deputy minister for China's Ministry of Shipbuilding Industry, and Ministry of Hydropower. Zhang Youshang
Zhang Youshang (; 2 November 192523 December 2022) was a Chinese biochemist, professor and vice-president of the Shanghai Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology. He was a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and served as chief editor of the peer-reviewed journal ''Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica'' (ABBS). His research was focused on protein structures and insulin. Personal life and education Zhang was born on 2 November 1925, in Changsha, Hunan. His father, Zhang Xiaoqian, was a founder of gastroenterology in China and a professor at Peking Union Medical College. Each of his two elder sisters and younger brother are biochemists or physicians. Knut Helle
Knut Helle (19 December 1930 – 27 June 2015) was a Norwegian historian. A professor at the University of Bergen from 1973 to 2000, he specialized in the late medieval history of Norway. He has contributed to several large works. Early life, education and marriage He was born in Larvik as the son of school inspector Hermann Olai Helle (1893–1973) and teacher Berta Marie Malm (1906–1991). He was the older brother of politician Ingvar Lars Helle. The family moved to Hetland when Knut Helle was seventeen years old. The Salvation Army (TSA) is a Protestant church and an international charitable organisation headquartered in London, England. Anna Hannevik (born 9 August 1925) is a Norwegian Salvation Army Commissioner. She was born in Datong, China, to missionaries Ingvald Andreas Hannevik and May Thompson. She held various positions in the Army in Norway, England and Ireland. She chaired the social work in Norway ("slumsøstrene") from 1968 to 1975, and the social work in Britain and Ireland from 1975. Huang Zongying
Huang Zongying (; 13 July 192514 December 2020) was a Chinese actress and writer. She starred in many black-and-white films such as '' Rhapsody of Happiness'' (1947), ''Crows and Sparrows'' (1949), ''Women Side by Side'' (1949), and ''The Life of Wu Xun'' (1950), all co-starring her third husband Zhao Dan. She began writing film scripts in the mid-1950s, and later became an acclaimed writer of reportage literature. She was a three-time winner of the National Award for Outstanding Reportage Literature, for "The Flight of the Wild-Geese", "Mandarin Oranges", and "The Wooden Cabin". Huang married four times. National Revolutionary Army
The National Revolutionary Army (NRA; ), sometimes shortened to Revolutionary Army () before 1928, and as National Army () after 1928, was the military arm of the Kuomintang (KMT, or the Chinese Nationalist Party) from 1925 until 1947 in China. It also became the regular army of the Republican era during the KMT's period of party rule beginning in 1928. Duan Qirui
Duan Qirui (; ) (March 6, 1865 – November 2, 1936) was a Chinese warlord and politician, a commander of the Beiyang Army and the acting Chief Executive of the Republic of China (in Beijing) from 1924 to 1926. He was also the Premier of the Republic of China on four occasions between 1913 and 1918. He was arguably the most powerful man in China from 1916 to 1920.
