The 1925 Ohio Bobcats football team was an American football team that represented Ohio University in the Ohio Athletic Conference during the 1925 college football season. In their second season under head coach Don Peden, the Bobcats compiled a 6–2 record and outscored opponents by a total of 95 to 40. Coach Peden was 26 years old during the 1925 season and remained as Ohio's head football coach through the 1946 season. Ohio Athletic Conference
The Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) was formed in 1902 and is the third oldest athletic conference in the United States. Its current commissioner is Sarah Otey. Former commissioners include Mike Cleary, who was the first General Manager of a professional basketball team to hire an African American head coach, and would later run the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA). The Ohio Athletic Conference competes in the NCAA's Division III. Through the years, 31 schools have been members of the OAC. The enrollments of the current ten member institutions range from around 1,000 to 4,500. Member teams are located in Ohio. James Gamble Nippert Memorial Stadium is an outdoor stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio, on the campus of the University of Cincinnati. Ada ; ; is a village in Hardin County, Ohio, United States, located about southwest of Toledo. The population was 5,952 at the 2010 census. History Following the 1817 Treaty of Fort Meigs, the Shawnee Indians held reservation land at Hog Creek near Ada. Ada itself was originally called Johnstown, platted in 1853 by S. M. The 1925 Ohio Wesleyan Battling Bishops football team was an American football team that represented Ohio Wesleyan University as a member of the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) during the 1925 college football season. In its fifth season under head coach George Gauthier, the team compiled a 7–1–1 record (6–0 against OAC opponents), won the OAC championship, shut out six of nine opponents, and outscored all opponents by a combined score of 219 to 25. The team was undefeated in games against OAC opponents, sustaining its only loss by a single touchdown to Ohio State and playing Syracuse to a 3–3 tie. Don Peden
Don C. Peden (December 30, 1898 – February 23, 1970) was an American football and baseball player and coach. He served as the head football coach at Ohio University from 1924 to 1946, compiling a record of 121 wins, 46 losses and 11 draws Peden's winning percentage of (.711) is the highest of any coach in the history of the Ohio Bobcats football program. His teams won six Buckeye Athletic Association championships, in 1929, 1930, 1931, 1935, 1936, and 1938. Peden was also the head baseball coach at Ohio from 1924 to 1948, tallying a mark of 250–134 and served as the university's Athletic Director from 1938 to 1949. The Bobcats' football stadium was renamed in his honor as Peden Stadium following his retirement. Peden died at the age of 71 on February 23, 1970, in San Diego, San Diego, California.
