1923 In Fine Arts Of The Soviet Union
The year 1923 was marked by many events that left an imprint on the history of Soviet and Russian Fine Arts. Events * January 8 — Exhibition of Society of the «Artists of the Moscow School» was opened in Mikhailova's Art Salon in Moscow. Pavel Nikolayevich Filonov ( rus, Па́вел Никола́евич Фило́нов, p=ˈpavʲɪl nʲɪkɐˈlajɪvʲɪtɕ fʲɪˈlonəf, a=Pavyel Nikolayevich Filonov.ru.vorb.oga; January 8, 1883 – December 3, 1941) was a Russian avant-garde painter, art theorist, and poet. Biography Filonov was born in Moscow on January 8, 1883 (Gregorian calendar) or December 27, 1882 (Julian calendar). In 1897, he moved to Saint Petersburg, St. Petersburg, where he took art lessons. In 1908, he entered Imperial Academy of Arts, St. Petersburg Academy of Arts, from which, he was expelled in 1910. In 1910–1914, he took part in the arts group Soyuz Molodyozhi created by artists Elena Guro and Mikhail Matyushin. In 1912, he wrote the article ''The Canon and the Law'', in which, he formulated the principles of analytical art, analytical realism, or "anti-Cubism". People's Artist Of The USSR
People's Artist of the USSR ( rus, Народный артист СССР, Narodny artist SSSR), also sometimes translated as National Artist of the USSR, was an honorary title granted to artists of the Soviet Union. Nomenclature and significance The term is confusingly used to translate two Russian language titles: Народный артист СССР (fem. Народная артистка СССР), awarded in performing arts and Народный художник СССР, granted in some visual arts. Each Soviet Republic, as well as the Autonomous Republics (ASSRs), had a similar award held previously by virtually every receiver of the higher title of People's Artist of the USSR. As this title was granted by the government, honorees were afforded certain privileges and would often receive commissions from the Minister of Culture of the Soviet Union. Mikhail Alexandrovich Kaneev (russian: Кане́ев Михаи́л Алекса́ндрович; April 5, 1923 in Kostroma Province, USSR – March 6, 1983 in Leningrad, USSR) was a Soviet Russian painter and art teacher, lived and worked in Leningrad, a member of the Leningrad Union of Artists, regarded as a known representative of the Leningrad school of painting, most famous for his cityscapes of Leningrad and ancient Russian towns. Biography Mikhail Alexandrovich Kaneev was born April 5, 1923 in Kaneevo village, Kostroma Province of USSR. In 1927 his family moved to Leningrad.
