The 1922–23 Football League, 1922–23 season was Port Vale F.C., Port Vale's fourth consecutive season of football (17th overall) in the English Football League. For the third successive the season the club finished just out of the relegation zones, and for the second successive season were unable to find a regular goalscorer following the sale of Bobby Blood. Financial issues continued to be a concern, especially when a former trainer reported the club for making illegal payments. Bob Connolly
Bob Connolly is an Australian film director, cinematographer and author. He is best known for his documentaries produced over the past 30 years, including '' The Highlands Trilogy'' and ''Rats in the Ranks''. More recent films include '' Facing the Music'' (2001) and Mrs Carey's Concert (2011). His films have won an Academy Award nomination, AFI Awards, and Grand Prix at the Cinéma du Réel Festival. Biography Connolly was educated at Sydney's Saint Ignatius' College, Riverview and attended Sydney University. Arthur Prince (footballer)
Arthur Prince (8 December 1902 – 1980) was an English footballer who played on the left-wing in the Football League for Port Vale, Sheffield Wednesday, Hull City, Walsall, and Bristol Rovers. He helped Wednesday to win the Second Division title in 1925–26. Career Prince played for Bucknall, before joining Port Vale as an amateur in October 1922, and signing as a professional player in January 1923. He made 16 Second Division appearances in the 1922–23 season, and scored his first senior goal in a 2–1 defeat to Bradford City at The Old Recreation Ground on 3 March. He played 27 league games in the 1923–24 campaign. He was sold to Sheffield Wednesday for a £750 fee in May 1924. Darlaston is an industrial town in the Metropolitan Borough of Walsall in the West Midlands of England. It is located near Wednesbury and Willenhall. Topography Darlaston is situated between Wednesbury and Walsall in the valley of the River Tame in the angle where the three major head-streams of the river converge. It is located on the South Staffordshire Coalfield and has been an area of intense coal-mining activity. The underlying coal reserves were most likely deposited in the Carboniferous Period. William Ewart Harrison (27 December 1886 – August 1948) was an English footballer who played at outside right. After a spell with Crewe Alexandra, he spent 1907 to 1920 with Wolverhampton Wanderers, the 1908 FA Cup Final, FA Cup in his first season there. He was later inducted into the club's Hall of Fame. Thomas Reid (born circa. 1901; date of death unknown) was a Scottish footballer who played as a forward for Ayr United, Port Vale, Clapton Orient, Northwich Victoria, and New Brighton. Career Reid played for North Stevenson United and Ayr United ( First Division) – also having trials with Clyde, Albion Rovers and Dundee – before joining Port Vale in August 1922. His debut came in a 3–0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux on 2 April 1923. He scored his first goal in the Football League 12 days later, in a 1–0 win over Barnsley at Oakwell. Having played the last six Second Division games of the 1922–23 season, he went on to feature 18 times in the 1923–24 campaign, and found the net against Bury and South Shields.
