The 1922 Oregon Agricultural Aggies football team represented Oregon Agricultural College (now Oregon State University) in the Pacific Coast Conference (PCC) during the 1922 college football season. In their third season under head coach R. B. Rutherford, the Aggies compiled a 3–4 record (1–3 in PCC, fifth) and outscored their opponents 44 to 42. Pacific Coast Conference
The Pacific Coast Conference (PCC) was a college athletic conference in the United States which existed from 1915 to 1959. Though the Pac-12 Conference claims the PCC's history as part of its own, with eight of the ten PCC members (including all four original PCC charter members) now in the Pac-12, the older league had a completely different charter and was disbanded in 1959 due to a major crisis and scandal. 1922 Washington State Cougars Football Team
The 1922 Washington State Cougars football team represented Washington State College (renamed Washington State University in 1959) in the Pacific Coast Conference (PCC) during the 1922 college football season. In its fourth and final season under head coach Gus Welch, the team compiled a 2–5 record (1–5 against PCC opponents), finished in seventh place in the PCC, and was outscored by their opponents by a combined total of 163 to 44. Washington State opened the season with a 10–7 victory over Gus Dorais' Gonzaga team with the victory being sealed on a last-minute field goal by quarterback Vernard Hickey. The team followed with an 18–9 victory over Idaho in a game played in Moscow. Washington State scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter, including an interception by Hickey returned 20 yards for a touchdown, to secure the victory. Providence Park (formerly Jeld-Wen Field; PGE Park; Civic Stadium; originally Multnomah Stadium; and from 1893 until the stadium was built, Multnomah Field) is an outdoor soccer venue located in the Goose Hollow neighborhood of Portland, Oregon. Gap Powell
George A. "Gap" Powell (March 18, 1898 – January 2, 1989) was an American football player. Early life Powell grew up in Portland, Oregon and was one of the first 12 students to graduate from Franklin High School. Football career He played fullback for Oregon State from 1918 to 1921 and became the university's first college football All-American in 1921. In the January 1922 issue of "Football World," Powell was named as the first-team All-American at the fullback position. Powell was also a member of Oregon State's track team and won the Pacific Coast Conference shot put championship in 1920. He was inducted into the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame in 1982 and the Oregon State University Sports Hall of Fame in 1990.
