1921 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association Football Season
The 1921 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association football season was the college football games played by the member schools of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association as part of the 1921 college football season. The season began on September 23 with conference member Chattanooga visiting Athens. Conference play began on September 24 with Alabama defeating Howard. Centre, Georgia Tech, Georgia, and Vanderbilt can all claim Southern championships. Centre and Georgia Tech both posted unblemished conference records. Georgia and Vanderbilt tied each other in their contest deciding a champion. This is the last year before many major programs move to the Southern Conference. Regular season SIAA teams in bold. Denny Field (Alabama)
Denny Field was located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and served as the home field for the University of Alabama football team from 1915 through the 1928 seasons, excluding 1918 when a team was not fielded due to World War I. The field was located at the intersection of 10th Street and 7th Avenue at the southern edge of the University of Alabama campus. Rickwood Field
Rickwood Field, located in Birmingham, Alabama, is the oldest professional baseball park in the United States. It was built for the Birmingham Barons in 1910 by industrialist and team-owner Rick Woodward and has served as the home park for the Birmingham Barons and the Birmingham Black Barons of the Negro leagues. Though the Barons moved their home games to the Hoover Met in the suburbs, and most recently to Regions Field in Birmingham, Rickwood Field has been preserved and is undergoing gradual restoration as a "working museum" where baseball's history can be experienced. Erskine Flying Fleet Football
The Erskine Flying Fleet football team represents Erskine College in the sport of American football. The Flying Fleet compete in the NCAA Division II as an independent, but will join the South Atlantic Conference as an associate member in 2022. Erskine is a dual member of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA). The team is currently led by head coach Shap Boyd, who has held the position since November 15, 2018, making him the first head football coach at Erskine since 1951. The Erskine College football program was terminated after the 1951 season. The team went on hiatus before announcing the return for the 2020. The Emory & Henry Wasps (also E&H Wasps) are the athletic teams that represent Emory & Henry College, located in Emory, Virginia, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports.
