1913 VFL Season
The 1913 VFL season was the 17th season of the Victorian Football League (VFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Victoria. The season featured ten clubs, ran from 26 April until 27 September, and comprised an 18-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top four clubs. The premiership was won by the Fitzroy Football Club for the fifth time, after it defeated by 13 points in the 1913 VFL Grand Final. Premiership season In 1913, the VFL competition consisted of ten teams of 18 on-the-field players each, with no "reserves", although any of the 18 players who had left the playing field for any reason could later resume their place on the field at any time during the match. Each team played each other twice in a home-and-away season of 18 rounds. Roy Park (sportsman)
Roy Lindsay Park (30 July 1892 – 23 January 1947) was an Australian sportsman and doctor. The son of a Methodist minister, he played cricket for Australia and also Australian rules football in the Victorian Football League (VFL). He was educated at Wesley College, Melbourne. Park also served in the Australian Imperial Force in World War I. Football career Park started his senior VFL career at University, making his debut in 1912. He had an immediate impact as the club's leading goal kicker with 22. Punt Road Oval
Punt Road Oval, also known by naming rights sponsorship as the Swinburne Centre, is an Australian rules football ground and former cricket oval located within the Yarra Park precinct of East Melbourne, Victoria, situated a few hundred metres to the east of the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The oval is a former venue of the Victorian Football League (now Australian Football League), with 544 VFL/AFL premiership matches played there between 1908 and 1964. The Coleman Medal is an Australian rules football award given annually to the Australian Football League (AFL) player who kicks the most goals in the home-and-away season. Melbourne University Football Club, often known simply as University, is an Australian rules football club based at the University of Melbourne. The club fields two teams, known as the "Blacks" and "Blues", who both compete in the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA) in the William Buck Premier Division.
