The 1913 New Zealand rugby league tour of Australia was a tour by the New Zealand national rugby league team. New Zealand National Rugby League Team
The New Zealand national rugby league team (Māori: Tīma rīki motu Aotearoa) has represented New Zealand in rugby league since 1907. Administered by the New Zealand Rugby League, they are commonly known as the Kiwis, after the native bird of that name. The team's colours are black and white, with the dominant colour being black, and the players perform a haka before every match they play as a challenge to their opponents. The New Zealand Kiwis are currently second in the IRL World Rankings. Since the 1980s, most New Zealand representatives have been based overseas, in the professional National Rugby League and Super League competitions. Before that, players were selected entirely from clubs in domestic New Zealand leagues. Harold Hayward
Harold "Circus" Owen Hayward (1883–1970) was a New Zealand rugby football player who represented New Zealand in both rugby union and rugby league. New South Wales Rugby League Team
The New South Wales rugby league team has represented the Australian state of New South Wales in rugby league football since the sport's beginnings there in 1907. Also known as the Blues due to their sky blue jerseys, the team competes in the annual State of Origin series. This annual event is a series of three games competing for the State of Origin shield. As of 2022, the team is coached by Brad Fittler and captained by James Tedesco. Prior to 1980 when the "state-of-origin" selection criteria were introduced, the New South Wales team, in addition to playing annually against Queensland, played matches against foreign touring sides and occasionally toured overseas themselves. Charles Savory (23 March 1889 – 8 May 1915) was a New Zealand international rugby league footballer and champion boxer who died in the First World War. An Australasian and New Zealand international representative forward, Savory was one of four Kiwis players selected to go on the 1911–12 Kangaroo tour of Great Britain. Due to playing the same sports, he has been described as "the Sonny Bill Williams of his time." Puhipi James Rukutai (1877 – 11 January 1940) was a New Zealand rugby union and professional rugby league footballer who played representative rugby league (RL) and coached New Zealand. The Auckland Rugby League's minor premiership, the Rukutai Shield, is named after him. Early years Rukutai was born at Kāwhia and affiliated to Ngāti Hikairo. He was educated at St Stephen's School. Henry Thacker
Henry Thomas Joynt Thacker (20 March 1870 – 3 May 1939) was a medical doctor, New Zealand Member of Parliament and Mayor of Christchurch. Early life Thacker was born in Okains Bay on Banks Peninsula on 20 March 1870. His parents were Essy Joynt and John Edward Thacker. His father was an editor of the ''Sligo Guardian'' and after emigration to Christchurch in 1850, launched the second newspaper in Canterbury, the ''Guardian and Canterbury Advertiser''. The newspaper failed after only a few months. Henry Thacker attended Boys' High School and then Canterbury College (what is now known as the University of Canterbury), from where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts. Albert "Abbie" Shadbolt (29 May 1887 – 13 July1971) was a New Zealand rugby union and professional rugby league footballer who played representative rugby league (RL) for New Zealand. Early life Albert Edward Shadbolt was born on May 28, 1887, in Whanganui. His father was also named Albert Edward Shadbolt and his mother was Jessie McIntosh. His father was on the Foxton Borough Council in the early part of the century and stood for mayor in 1907. he had originally been from Akaroa, in Canterbury before moving to Wellington where he learned the butchery trade and opened a butchery in Foxton.
