1911 Auburn Tigers Football Team
The 1911 Auburn Tigers football team represented Alabama Polytechnic Institute (now known Auburn University) as a member of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association (SIAA) during the 1911 college football season. The team was led by head coach Mike Donahue, in his seventh year, and played their home games at both Drake Field in Auburn and Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama. They finished the season with a record of four wins, two losses, and one tie (4–2–1 overall, 4–0–1 in the SIAA). Gaston Park
Gaston Park was a baseball park located in Dallas, Texas. Named for landowner William H. Gaston, the ballpark existed within the State Fair grounds in the vicinity of Texas and Pacific rail tracks as well as the Music Hall at Fair Park in Dallas. The field was also used for the Red River Rivalry in 1912 and 1914. Oklahoma beat Texas 21–6 in 1912 while the Longhorns beat the Sooners 32–7 in 1914. Deep South's Oldest Rivalry
The Auburn–Georgia football rivalry is a college football rivalry game between the Auburn Tigers and Georgia Bulldogs. The two teams first played each other in 1892, and the rivalry has been renewed annually since 1944 for a total of 126 games as of 2021. Because it is the oldest rivalry still contested between teams in the Deep South, the series is referred to by both schools as the "Deep South's Oldest Rivalry" (although the first football game played in the Deep South was Wofford vs. Furman in 1889). 1911 Georgia Bulldogs Football Team
The 1911 Georgia Bulldogs football team represented the University of Georgia during the 1911 college football season. The Bulldogs completed the season with a 7–1–1 record. The only blemishes on the season were a loss to Vanderbilt and a tie with Auburn. Vanderbilt went on to win its second straight SIAA conference title. The season provided second consecutive victories over Alabama and Georgia Tech and the first victory in a number of years against Sewanee. The captain of the 1911 team and one of the star players was quarterback George Cecil Woodruff. Woodruff became the third Georgia player to later become head coach of the Bulldogs when he assumed that role in 1923. The 1911 season was Georgia's 20th football season. After 20 years of football, the Bulldogs had played 127 games and had a 60–55–12 record (.520 winning percentage). Clark Field (1887)
Clark Field, originally known as Varsity Athletic Field, was a stadium on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin. Clark Field hosted the Texas Longhorns football and track teams until they moved to the newly constructed Memorial Stadium in 1924. The Auburn–Georgia Tech football rivalry is an American college football rivalry between the Auburn Tigers and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Auburn leads the series 47–41–4. Series history The first game took place on November 25, 1892, in Atlanta, Georgia. They played in the SIAA until it was defunct in 1922, before joining the Southeastern Conference. Georgia Tech left the SEC in 1963, playing as an independent until joining the Atlantic Coast Conference in 1980. Despite no longer being conference opponents, they played annually until 1987. The rivalry was renewed for a home and home series played in 2003 and 2005. There are no future games currently scheduled. Ponce de Leon Park ( ; also known as Spiller Park or Spiller Field from 1924 to 1932, and "Poncey" to locals, was the primary home field for the minor league baseball team called the Atlanta Crackers for nearly six decades.
