Primera Fuerza
The Liga Mexicana de Fútbol Amateur Association, known as the Primera Fuerza, was an amateur football league founded in Mexico in 1902 with five clubs: " Orizaba A.C.", " Pachuca A.C.", " Reforma A.C.", "Mexico Cricket Club" and " British Club". Orizaba won the league in its inaugural year. A total of 37 teams took part in this league from 1902 until 1943, when football in Mexico went professional. History Prior to the Liga Mayor, there was no national football league in Mexico and football competitions were held within relatively small geographical regions. The winners of the ''Primera Fuerza'', a local league consisting of teams in and around Mexican Federal District, was considered the national champion. There were other regional leagues such as the '' Liga Veracruzana'', '' Liga Occidental'' and ''Liga del Bajío'' that also had notable clubs. The British Football Club was a Mexican football club that played in the Liga Mexicana de Football Amateur Association, the first Mexican league prior to the professionalization and development of the Primera División de México. History The club was founded in 1902 by Percy Clifford, a Cornish immigrant, who at the time was a member of the Club Reforma. Clifford decided to dedicate his life to becoming one of the best players in the Mexican league and would later go on to become a Manager and board member for the club. The club's main source of economic support came from the Club Británico, a British sports club in Mexico City, which was founded in 1899. Club de Fútbol Pachuca is a Mexican professional Association football, football team based in Pachuca, Hidalgo (state), Hidalgo, that competes in Liga MX.
