1906 Cork Senior Hurling Championship
The 1906 Cork Senior Hurling Championship was the 19th staging of the Cork Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board in 1887. St. Finbarr's were the defending champions from 1903 because the 1905 championship wasn't completed. St. Finbarr's won the championship following a 2–9 to 0–6 defeat of Ballymartle in the final. As a result of this victory they were also awarded the 1905 championship title. Consequently, this was their fourth championship title overall and their third title in succession. Ballymartle GAA (''CLG Baile an Mhairtealaigh'') is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the village of Riverstick in County Cork, Ireland. The club fields both Gaelic football and hurling teams in competitions organized by Cork County Board. The club is part of the Carrigdhoun division of Cork. The club has achieved most of its success in hurling. At Underage they come together with fellow neighbours Belgooly to form ''Sliabh Rua'' who were White and Maroon Colours. The Cork Premier Senior Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Co-Op Superstores Cork Premier Senior Hurling Championship and abbreviated to the Cork PSHC) is an annual club hurling competition organised by the Cork County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association and contested by the top-ranking senior clubs and amalgamated teams in the county of Cork in Ireland, deciding the competition winners through a group and knockout format. It is the most prestigious competition in Cork hurling. Introduced in 1887 as the Cork Senior Hurling Championship, it was initially a straight knockout tournament open only to senior-ranking club teams, with its winner reckoned as the Cork county champion. Ballinhassig GAA
Ballinhassig is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the village of Ballinhassig in County Cork, Republic of Ireland. The club was founded in 1886, and now plays Hurling at Premier Intermediate level, having won the Cork Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship in 2005, and the Cork Junior Hurling Championship in 2002. Stemming from these County Championship wins, Ballinhassig competed in Munster and All-Ireland Club Championships, and have won the following Club Championship Finals: Junior Munster Club Final, Junior All-Ireland Junior Club Hurling Championship Final, Intermediate Munster Club Final; but lost out to Dicksboro, of Kilkenny town, in the All-Ireland Intermediate Club Hurling Championship Final, played in Croke Park. Ballinhassig () is a village in County Cork, Ireland, situated south of Cork City just off the N71 Bandon road and near the source of the River Owenabue (''Abhainn Bui'', meaning "Yellow River"). Traditionally an agricultural area, Ballinhassig has seen some growth as a commuter area, being close to Cork city. This growth saw the construction of new houses during the Irish construction boom of the early 21st century. History There are a number of prehistoric ringforts around Ballinhassig. Mountjoy, the Lord Deputy of Ireland, camped locally with his army of 4,000 troops on the night before the Battle of Kinsale in 1601. Blackrock National Hurling Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club located on the southside of Cork City, Ireland. The club was founded in 1883 and is primarily concerned with the game of hurling. No other Cork-based GAA club has won more Senior County Hurling titles or All-Ireland Club Championships. The club is sometimes known as 'The Rockies'. History Blackrock Hurling Club was officially founded in 1883, one year before the foundation of the Gaelic Athletic Association itself.
