Jock Walker
John Walker (17 November 1883 – 16 December 1968) was a Scottish professional footballer who played as a left back and is perhaps best remembered for his six seasons in the Southern League with Swindon Town. He also played in the Scottish League for Raith Rovers, Rangers and Cowdenbeath and in the Football League for Middlesbrough and Reading. Although convicted of sexual assault and imprisoned in 1917, he was able to resume his career upon being released. After retiring from football he ran a fish-and-chip shop in Swindon. Jimmy Speirs
James Hamilton Speirs MM (22 March 1886 – 20 August 1917) was a Scottish footballer who represented his country on one occasion, scored the winning goal in the 1911 FA Cup Final, and received the Military Medal during the First World War. Born in Glasgow, he worked as a clerk while playing youth football for Annandale. He started his adult football career with local junior team Maryhill, where he played for less than a season, before he moved to Rangers in 1905. He spent three years with the club, but won only the Glasgow Merchants' Charity Cup, before he joined a third Glasgow side Clyde. After one season, he left Clyde and Scotland, and joined Bradford City for their second season in the First Division. Alexander Breckenridge Craig (born 2 April 1886 – 16 February 1951) was a footballer who played for Rangers, Greenock Morton and Ireland as a left back. He is one of only four players born in what is now the Republic of Ireland to play for Rangers; the others were Alex Stevenson, Jon Daly and James Lowry McAuley. Daniel Steel (2 May 1884 – 29 April 1931) was a Scottish professional footballer who played for clubs including Rangers, Tottenham Hotspur, Third Lanark, Dumbarton and Clapton Orient. Career Steel played principally as a centre half, although in his initial appearances for Rangers he played at inside left. Jimmy Croal
James Anderson Croal (27 July 1885 – 16 September 1939) was a Scottish footballer, who played for Falkirk, Rangers, Chelsea and Scotland. He was judged to be a clever inside left who when paired with Bob McNeil was very effective. Career Croal was a lively inside left, who joined Rangers in 1905 from junior football. However, he failed to make the breakthrough to the first team and went out on loan to Ayr Parkhouse, Alloa Athletic and Dunfermline Athletic, before finally leaving Ibrox to sign for Falkirk for a £10 fee in November 1910. At Brockville, his career blossomed, and he won the Scottish Cup in 1913, as well as three international caps for Scotland and five appearances for the Scottish League XI. Croal transferred to Chelsea from Falkirk in April 1914. Chelsea paid £2,000 for him and he remained at Stamford Bridge until 1922. Alex Smith (footballer, Born 1876)
Alexander Smith (7 November 1875 – 12 November 1954) was a Scottish footballer who played as an outside left for Rangers and the Scotland national team. Career Born in Darvel, Ayrshire, Smith signed for Rangers in April 1894 from local side Darvel F.C., having been introduced at the suggestion of Nicol Smith (a defender who had made the same move a year earlier and came from the same village, but was not a relation). He stayed with the Ibrox club for 21 years until retiring in 1915, was part of Rangers' treble-winning ( Scottish Football League title, Glasgow Cup and Glasgow Merchants Charity Cup) teams of 1896–97, 1899–1900 and 1910–11, and played in 69 of the club's 74 matches during their run of four consecutive championships from 1898 to 1902. Robert Smyth McColl
Robert Smyth McColl (13 April 1876 – 25 November 1959) was a Scottish footballer who played as a centre forward. Playing career McColl started his career with junior club Benmore in 1892 and moved to Queen's Park in 1894. He represented the Scottish League in 1901. He later played professionally in England for Newcastle United, remaining on Tyneside for three years until he came back to Glasgow in 1904 to play for Rangers. He returned to Queen's Park in 1907, although the restoration of his amateur status had to be decided by the board of the club beforehand. McColl finished his football career in 1912, scoring 6 goals in his penultimate game against Port Glasgow Athletic, a Scottish scoring record which stands to the present day. Archie Kyle
Archibald Kyle (13 July 1883 – 21 July 1957) was a Scottish football player who played for Rangers, Blackburn Rovers and Hamilton Academical. Career Kyle joined Rangers from Parkhead in 1904. He was one of a number of Roman Catholic players at the club during the early 1900s. Kyle made 110 League and Scottish Cup appearances for the club and scored 52 goals during his four-season spell. He was unable to claim any major honours in an era when rivals Celtic were dominant, the nearest being a runners-up medal from the 1904–05 Scottish Cup. He left Rangers 1908 to move to England with Blackburn Rovers and later Bradford Park Avenue before a brief stint in Ireland at Linfield.
