1905 Lafayette Football Team
The 1905 Lafayette football team was an American football team that represented Lafayette College as an independent during the 1905 college football season. In its third season under head coach Alfred E. Bull, the team compiled a 7–2–1 record, shut out seven opponents, and outscored all opponents by a total of 313 to 55. Frank Newberry was the team captain. The team played its home games at March Field in Easton, Pennsylvania. Franklin Field is a sports stadium in Philadelphia, United States, at the eastern edge of the University of Pennsylvania's campus. It is the home stadium for the Penn Relays, and the University of Pennsylvania's stadium for football, track and field and lacrosse. It is also used by Penn students for recreation, and for intramural and club sports, including touch football and cricket, and is the site of Penn's graduation exercises, weather permitting. Franklin Field is the oldest stadium still operating for football. It was the first college stadium in the United States with a scoreboard and the second with an upper deck of seats.
