Christian IX Of Denmark
Christian IX (8 April 181829 January 1906) was King of Denmark from 1863 until his death in 1906. From 1863 to 1864, he was concurrently Duke of Schleswig, Holstein and Lauenburg. A younger son of Frederick William, Duke of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-GlĂĽcksburg, Christian grew up in the Duchy of Schleswig as a prince of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-GlĂĽcksburg, a junior branch of the House of Oldenburg which had ruled Denmark since 1448. Although having close family ties to the Danish royal family, he was originally not in the immediate line of succession to the Danish throne. Following the early death of the father in 1831, Christian grew up in Denmark and was educated at the Military Academy of Copenhagen. After unsuccessfully seeking the hand of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom in marriage, he married his double second cousin, Princess Louise of Hesse-Kassel, in 1842. Vilhelm Kyhn
Peter Vilhelm Carl Kyhn (March 30, 1819 – May 11, 1903) was a Danish landscape painter who belonged to the generation of national romantic painters immediately after the Danish Golden Age and before the Modern Breakthrough. Even though he outlived many of his artistic peers by several decades, he remained a traditionalist and expressed strong criticism of many of the new trends in the painting of his day. Kyhn also played a role as an educator, establishing several alternative art schools, including a painting school for women which was attended by Anna Ancher, among others. Heinrich Tønnies
Johan Georg Heinrich Ludwig Tønnies (or ''Tönnies'') (10 May 1825 – 11 December 1903) was an early German-Danish photographer who had a studio in Aalborg, Denmark. Biography Born in GrĂĽnenplan, Germany, he was trained as a glass painter and cutter. He moved to Denmark in the 1850s where he learnt the art of daguerreotypy from the Berlin photographer C. Fritsche in Aalborg and from Wilhelm Schrøder in Copenhagen. He opened a photographic studio in Aalborg where he soon specialised in the carte-de-visite technique as it facilitated the production of prints. Most of his work was concentrated on portraits although he also took many landscapes. His photographs often presented people in their working clothes rather than formally dressed for the occasion. He also took photographs of soldiers in uniform. especially at the time of the Second Schleswig War in 1864. Erhard Frederiksen
Erhard Frederiksen (7 January 1843 – 12 October 1903) was a Danish agronomist and sugar manufacturer. He is considered one of the most significant writers on agricultural economics of his time in Denmark. He was a co-founder of a sugar factory at Holeby on Lolland in 1872–1874, which was later taken over by the Danish Sugar Factories under the name Højbygaard Sugar Factory. Early life and education Frederiksen was born at Fuglsang, the son of Ditlev Friderichsen (1791–1861), the owner of Nøbbøllegård, and wife Maria Hansen (1811–1901). He was the brother of Johan Ditlved Frederiksen, Kirstine Frederiksen and Niels Christian Frederiksen. Frederiksen graduated from Sorø Academy in 1857 and then spent two years on his father's estate to obtain practical experience with farming before enrolling at the Royal Danish Agricultural College from where he graduated as an agricultural economist in 1862.
