Charles Roller
Charles Summerville Roller Jr. (September 8, 1879 – March 16, 1963) was an American football player and coach. He served as the head football coach at Furman University from 1901 to 1902 and at the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) from 1907 to 1908, compiling a career college football coaching record of 14–10–5. Roller's 1902 Furman Purple Hurricane football team had wins over North Carolina A&M and South Carolina. From 1903 until 1913 Furman did not field a football team. Roller played at VMI, where he was an All-Southern quarterback. He worked as an assistant football coach at Washington and Lee University in 1908. Eli Abbott (April 1, 1869 – February 13, 1943) was an American football player and coach of football and baseball. He played college football at the University of Alabama and the University of Pennsylvania and coached the Alabama Crimson Tide football team from 1893 to 1895 and again in 1902. Early years Abbott was born in Mississippi in 1869. He was the son of James O. and Emily Abbott, both of whom were Mississippi natives. At the time of the 1880 United States Census, Abbott was living with his parents and three brothers in Okolona, Mississippi. Neil Worthington Snow (November 10, 1879 – January 22, 1914) was an American athlete. He competed in American football, baseball, and track and field at the University of Michigan from 1898 to 1902. He was selected as a first-team All-American football player in 1901 and as the most valuable player in the 1902 Rose Bowl, a game in which he scored five touchdowns.
