The 1898 Challenge Cup was the 2nd staging of rugby league's oldest knockout competition, the Challenge Cup. The final was contested by Batley and Bradford at Headingley Stadium in Leeds. The final was played on Saturday 23 April 1898, where Batley beat Bradford 7-0 at Headingley in front of a crowd of 27,941. Watersheddings was the site of a former rugby league stadium in the Watersheddings area of Oldham in Greater Manchester, England. Historically it was in Lancashire, lying on the A672 (Ripponden Road) approximately 2 miles north east of Oldham town centre. The Warrington Wolves are a professional rugby league club based in Warrington, England, that competes in the Super League. They play rugby at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, having moved there from Wilderspool in 2004.
