1895–96 FC Basel Season
The FC Basel 1895–96 season was their third season since the club's foundation on 15 November 1893. Emanuel Schiess was elected as second chairman in the club's history at the club's AGM. FC Basel's home ground was the Landhof, in the Wettstein neighborhood of Kleinbasel (lesser Basel), but they also played home games at the Stadion Schützenmatte in the Bachletten quartier in Grossbasel (greater Basel). The Swiss national championships had not yet been called to into life. Overview Roland Geldner had been the club's chairman, but he stood down at the club's AGM held on 1 September 1895 and Emanuel Schiess was elected as new chairman. At this AGM on it was announced that 31 footballers had joined the club since the first day, 14 members had since left and so they had 17 active footballers. Fussball Club Basel 1893, widely known as FC Basel, FCB, or just Basel, is a Swiss football club based in Basel, in the Canton of Basel-Stadt. Formed in 1893, the club has been Swiss national champions 20 times, Swiss Cup winners 13 times, and Swiss League Cup winners once. Adolf Rittmann
Adolf Rittmann (8 June 1876 – 1914) was a Swiss footballer who played mainly as goalkeeper and sometimes as forward in the 1890s. Football career Rittmann joined FC Basel's first team for their 1894–95 season. The official Swiss national championship had not yet been called into life and so the team played only friendly games. Rittmann played his first game for the club in the home game on 14 October 1894 as Basel 0–0 draw with the RTV/Realschüler-Turnverein (secondary school student gymnastics club). Rittmann played in six of the club's 12 friendly games that season. The first edition of the official Swiss championship was played in the 1898–99 season as a knock out competition. Basel played against Old Boys in the central group semi-final. Rittmann played his league debut for the club in this home game at the Landhof on 13 November 1898. Albert Linder (born 8 November 1877) was a Swiss footballer who played for FC Basel during the 1890s. He played mainly in the position as striker, but also as midfielder. Hans Max Gamper-Haessig (; 22 November 1877 – 30 July 1930), commonly known as Joan Gamper (), was a Swiss-born Association football, football executive and versatile athlete. He founded football clubs in Switzerland and Spain, most notably FC Barcelona and FC Zürich. Ivo Schricker
Ivo Wolfgang Eduard Schricker (18 March 1877 – 10 January 1962) was a German footballer and the third General Secretary of the FIFA, serving from 1932 to 1951 upon his resignation. Biography Ivo Schricker was son of a privy councilor in Strasbourg, which at that time belonged to the German Empire. Wilhelm Glaser
Wilhelm Glaser (6 December 1874 – 31 May 1946) was a Swiss footballer who played for FC Basel in the 1890s. He played as forward or as defender. Football career Glaser was member of the Basel rowing club and during a visit to England he had seen the new football game. After a newspaper advert, there was a meeting on 15 November 1893 and the Fussball Club Basel was founded. Glaser attended the founders meeting and joined the team that evening. Glaser immediately started training with the team and the first football match that the club held was on 10 December against the football team of the club RTV/Realschüler-Turnverein, a secondary school student gymnastics club. Charles (Charlie) Volderauer (30 May 1871 – 6 October 1931) was a Swiss businessman. He was founder member of the club FC Basel, played various matches for them as defender, was voted into the board of directors and was the club's president for more than three years. Football career Volderauer was one of the founders members of FC Basel on 15 November 1893. Between the years 1893 and 1899 he played at least 33 test matches as defender without scoring a goal. Most of these games were before the Swiss Serie A was founded.
