Association football, more commonly known as football or soccer, is a team sport played between two teams of 11 players who primarily use their feet to propel the ball around a rectangular field called a pitch. The objective of the game is to score more goals than the opposition by moving the ball beyond the goal line into a rectangular framed goal defended by the opposing side. Frank Bradshaw
Frank Bradshaw (31 May 1884 – mid-1962) was an English professional footballer and football club manager. A versatile player, he started his professional career as a forward with Sheffield Wednesday where he won the FA Cup in 1907. He later starred for Everton and Arsenal, moving to the full back position the later years of his career. He played once for the England national team and also represented the Southern League and the Football League, the latter on four occasions. Early life Frank Bradshaw was born on 31 May 1884 in Sheffield, Yorkshire. Playing career An intelligent inside-left, Bradshaw played for Oxford Street Sunday School and Sheffield Schools before joining Sheffield Wednesday as an amateur in 1904, turning professional the same year. Willie Reid (footballer, Born 1884)
William Reid (3 May 1884 – 13 May 1964) was a Scottish international football player and manager, who played as a striker. Playing career Club Born in Baillieston, Lanarkshire, Reid began his senior career in 1903 with Morton, whom he joined from Baillieston Thistle. He scored 11 league goals in two seasons before a move to Third Lanark in April 1906; his only official appearance for the club was in the Scottish Cup final defeat to Hearts later that month. A transfer to Motherwell followed, where he scored 35 times in two seasons before a loan spell in England with Portsmouth. José Quirante
José Quirante Pineda (10 May 1883 in Alicante, Spain – 30 May 1964 in Barcelona, Spain) was a footballer who played as a midfielder, being one of the first players to play for both FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. He is also remembered for being one of the first professional players of the still growing sport. Quirante was one of the most important players in the amateur beginnings of FC Barcelona, playing with them for a whole decade between 1901 and 1911. He was an outstanding athlete and cyclist and, after his sports retirement, he had a prolific career and long career as a coach for numerous clubs throughout Spanish geography. The 1883–84 British Home Championship was the inaugural international football tournament, played between the Home Nations of the British Isles which at the time made up the constituent nations of the United Kingdom; England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. International football matches had begun with annual games played between England and Scotland in 1872 and they had been joined by Wales in 1876 and Ireland in 1882. The tournament was played in an unusual layout, with Ireland playing all three of their games first, and losing heavily in each one. A druid was a member of the high-ranking class in ancient Celtic cultures. Oswestry Town F
Oswestry ( ; ) is a market town, civil parish and historic railway town in Shropshire, England, close to the Welsh border. It is at the junction of the A5, A483 and A495 roads.
