Robert Chambers (Canadian Politician)
Robert Chambers (c.1813 – August 29, 1875) was a merchant and politician in Nova Scotia, Canada. He represented Colchester County in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1867 to 1871 as a Liberal member. He was born in Newport, Nova Scotia, the son of Robert Chambers. He married Nancy Blair Archibald. Chambers was a justice of the peace. He died in Truro Truro (; kw, Truru) is a cathedral city and civil parish in Cornwall, England. Avard Longley
Avard Longley (February 22, 1823 – February 22, 1884) was a farmer, merchant and politician in Nova Scotia, Canada. He represented Annapolis County in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1859 to 1867 and again from 1874 to 1878 and represented Annapolis in the House of Commons of Canada from 1878 to 1882 as a Conservative member. He was born in Paradise, Nova Scotia, the son of Asaph Longley and Dorcas Poole. In 1848, he married Hannah Maria Whitman. Longley married Charlotte Augusta Troop in 1855. Longley was first elected to the assembly in 1859 as a temperance advocate. He was commissioner of railways from 1864 to 1869. Longley helped found the Nova Scotia Fruit Growers' Association and served as its president from 1883 to 1884. He ran unsuccessfully for a federal seat in 1867 and 1872 and was defeated when he ran for a seat in the provincial assembly in 1871. Annapolis is a provincial electoral district in Nova Scotia, Canada, that elects one member of the Nova Scotia House of Assembly. The district was created in 1867 and was abolished in 1953 when it was re-distributed into Annapolis East and Annapolis West. The district was re-formed in 1993 and its boundaries were changed following the 2012 electoral reform commission to include the portion of Digby-Annapolis within Annapolis County north of Maitland Bridge. The district includes the entirety of Annapolis County including the municipalities of Annapolis Royal and Middleton. Since 2021, the district has been represented by Carman Kerr. Elkanah Young (c. 1800 – April 13, 1876) was a merchant and political figure in Nova Scotia, Canada. He represented Falmouth township from 1843 to 1847 and from 1851 to 1855 and Hants County from 1867 to 1871 as a Liberal-Conservative member in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly. Martin Isaac Wilkins
Martin Isaac Wilkins (September 14, 1804 – August 16, 1881) was a lawyer and political figure in Nova Scotia, Canada. He represented Pictou Township in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1851 to 1859 and from 1867 to 1871. He was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the son of Lewis Morris Wilkins and Sarah Creighton. He studied at King's College in Windsor, was admitted to the bar in 1828 and set up practice in Pictou. Wilkins married Jane Mortimer (Wallace). He was editor for the Pictou ''Observer''. He was the province's solicitor general from 1857 to 1859. Wilkins was opposed to Confederation. In 1867, he published a pamphlet that argued that Confederation was unconstitutional. He served as the province's attorney general from 1867 to 1871. Wilkins was named protonotary for the province's Supreme Court in Halifax in 1871. He died in Halifax at the age of 76. Richmond (Nova Scotia Provincial Electoral District)
Richmond is a provincial electoral district in Nova Scotia, Canada, that elects one member of the Nova Scotia House of Assembly. Replacing the former district of Richmond-Cape Breton West, it was created in 1933 when the counties of Cape Breton and Richmond were divided into three new electoral districts. In 1992, it was renamed Richmond. In 2013, at the recommendation of the Electoral Boundaries Commission, the district was renamed Cape Breton-Richmond, gained the town of Port Hawkesbury from Inverness and expanded northeast to include the area east of East Bay and west of the Mira River to Morley Road from Cape Breton West. Following the 2019 electoral boundary review, it lost Port Hawkesbury to Inverness and some territory to Cape Breton East, and reverted to the name Richmond.
