Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen
Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen (born Anne Marie Brodersen; 21 June 1863 – 21 February 1945) was a Danish sculptor. Her preferred themes were domestic animals and people, with an intense, naturalistic portrayal of movements and sentiments. She also depicted themes from Nordic mythology. She was "one of the first women to be taken seriously as a sculptor," a trend-setter in Danish art for most of her life. She was married to the Danish composer Carl Nielsen. Early life Brodersen was born on Thygesminde, a large farm estate in South Stenderup, near Kolding. Her father Povl Julius Brodersen served in the German Dragoons before purchasing the farm. He married Friderikke Johanne Kirstine Gilling, who was his housekeeper. The Brodersens were "successful, daring people", some of the first to import livestock directly from England. Nordisk Film A/S (lit. "Nordic Film") is a Danish entertainment company established in 1906 in Copenhagen by filmmaker Ole Olsen. It is the fourth-oldest film studio in the world behind the Gaumont Film Company, Pathé, and Titanus, and the oldest studio to be continuously active. History Olsen started his company in the Copenhagen suburb of Valby under the name "Ole Olsen's Film Factory" but soon changed it to the Nordisk Film company. In 1908, Olsen opened an affiliate branch in New York, the Great Northern Film Company, to handle the distribution of his films to the American market. In 1909 having been excluded from the MPPC cartel in the United States, which Olsen had hoped to join, Nordisk participated in the Paris Film Congress in a failed attempt by major European producers to form a similar monopoly. Carl Wentorf
Carl Christian Ferdinand Wentorf (25 April 1863 – 24 November 1914) was a Danish painter. His works included genre pieces and portraits. He won the Royal Danish Art Academy's Annual Medal in 1901. Biography Carl Wentorf was born in Copenhagen, the son of furnituremaker Heinrich Frederik Wentorf and Cecilie Juditha (née) Wandschneider. He attended the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from 1881 to 1887. He had his debut at the Charlottenborg Exhibition in 1897 with a portrait of the landscape painter Carl Frederik Aagaard. He travelled widely in the 1890s with economic support both from the Academy and Det Ancherske Legat, especially to Germany, France, Italy and the Netherlands.. Karl Hansen Reistrup
Frederik Karl Kristian Hansen Reistrup (22 April 1863 – 18 March 1929) was a Danish sculptor, illustrator and ceramist. Reistrup is remembered for his important contribution to ceramics in particular for the ceramics he produced for Herman A. Kähler's pottery factory in Næstved. Biography Born at Valby, he studied ceramics while attending the Copenhagen Technical College in preparation for training under Carl Ferdinand Andersen at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (1881–82). He also attended the Académie Julian in Paris under Henri Chapu from 1885. After apprenticeships at the Kongelige Porcelainsfabrik and at the Manufacture nationale de Sèvres, he joined Herman A. Kähler at his ceramics factory in Næstved in 1888 where he became artistic director.
