Kloka Anna
Anna Johansdotter or Anna Jonsdotter (15 July 1797 – 1860), was a Swedish cunning woman and medium. She has been the subject of much legends and myths. She is known and referred to by her nickname ''Kloka Anna'' ("Wise Anna"). Biography Anna was born in a poor family in Liatorp in Småland. She worked as a farmhand until 1822, when she started to support herself as a cunning woman. She lived in Göteryd in 1822-184s and after that in Pjätteryd, where she became famous. According to legend, she acquired her wisdom after having eaten some Vaccinium vitis-idaea which had been touched by a white snake, who had passed her path one day in the woods when she was a child. Anna was considered to be a clairvoyant and to have the ability to heal the sick, and she received clients nationwide who consulted her in both these capacities. Désirée Clary
Bernardine Eugénie Désirée Clary ( sv, Eugenia Bernhardina Desideria; 8 November 1777 – 17 December 1860) was Queen of Sweden and Norway from 5 February 1818 to 8 March 1844 as the wife of King Charles XIV John. Charles John was a former French general and founder of the House of Bernadotte. Désirée Clary was the mother of Oscar I, and one-time fiancée of Napoleon Bonaparte. Her name was officially changed in Sweden to Desideria but she did not use that name. Sara Augusta Malmborg, née ''von Gertten'' (20 May 1810, Björsbyholm in Sunne in Värmland - 10 August 1860, Våxnäs) was a Swedish singer, pianist and painter. Malmborg was born to colonel lieutenant nobleman Emil Adam von Gerdten (1772-1844) and Charlotta Ulrika Catarina Löwenhielm (1786-1875) and niece of governor Carl Gustaf Löwenhielm. Israel Hwasser
Israel Hwasser (17 September 1790 in Älvkarleby - 11 May 1860 in Uppsala) was a Swedish medical doctor and professor, who became a member of the Swedish Academy in 1854. Hwasser was the son of the vicar in Älvkarleby parish, Lars Adolph Hwasser, and Margareta Catharina Djurman. He grew up in the vicarage, receiving his schooling at home. When he was 14 years old he took the finishing exam, ''studentexamen'', in Uppsala, and went on to study medicine there. In 1813 he finished his studies and defended his dissertation to become a Doctor of Medicine. The subject of his dissertation was the treatment of fevers with cold water. Hwasser joined the Swedish troops as a military doctor in the War of the Sixth Coalition (part of the Napoleonic Wars) in 1813-14. He served in Germany and Norway. After his return to Sweden, he pursued further studies in surgery at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm. In 1817, at the age of 26, he was appointed Professor of medicine in Turku. Carl Lindhagen
Carl Albert Lindhagen (17 December 1860 – 11 March 1946) was a Swedish lawyer, politician, and pacifist. Carl Lindhagen was the chief magistrate (''borgmästare'') of Stockholm 1903–1930 (i.e. a legal position, not mayor). Life Lindhagen was born in Stockholm. He was the son of Albert Lindhagen and the brother of Anna Lindhagen and Arthur Lindhagen. He studied law in Uppsala. As a lawyer, Lindhagen participated as adviser for the executives of the testament of Alfred Nobel. He was the secretary of the Nobel Committee in 1899, and at times he was suggested as a nominee to receive the Nobel Peace Prize, for his anti-militarism commitments. He started his political career in the Liberal party, which in the time before democracy was considered a radical movement.
