Valentín Alsina (December 16, 1802 – September 6, 1869) was an Argentine lawyer and politician. Biography Early life Alsina was born in Buenos Aires and studied law at the University of Córdoba. He occupied diverse posts in government, and had a successful civil career as an advocate and professor of law at the University of Buenos Aires. Political views Under the government of Juan Manuel de Rosas, he had to leave the country, as his liberal ideas did not please the dictator at all. From his refuge in Montevideo, he supported the opposition against de Rosas, both financially and through publications. When Rosas was deposed by Justo José de Urquiza, Alsina returned to Buenos Aires, and he was elected provincial Governor in 1852. Felipe Llavallol
Felipe Esteban Llavallol (December 26, 1802 – April 4, 1874) was an Argentine merchant, philanthropist, lawmaker and briefly Governor of the secessionist State of Buenos Aires. Life and times Llavallol was born in Buenos Aires to María Gertrudis de Merlo and Jaime Llavallol; the elder Llavallol was a Catalan merchant from Barcelona who had emigrated to Buenos Aires in the 1790s, and Felipe Llavallol joined his father in business. He married the former Martina Monasterio in 1833, and they had seven children. He inherited his father's commercial establishment in 1838 and became one of Buenos Aires' leading businesspeople. Following the September 11, 1852, declaration of the secessionist State of Buenos Aires, Llavallol held numerous posts in the new government. Pascual Echagüe, (16 May 1797 – 2 June 1867) was an Argentine soldier and politician. He served as Governor of Entre Ríos and Santa Fe provinces and Minister of War and Navy during the governments of Urquiza and Derqui. He participated in the Argentine Civil Wars and the Uruguayan Civil War. Minister in Santa Fe Echagüe was born in Santa Fe in 1797 and received a doctorate in theology in 1818 from the National University of Córdoba. He was a teacher for a short time, later secretary and afterward provincial minister to Governor Estanislao López. He represented his province at the signing of the treaties with Entre Ríos (1823), and at the Pacto Federal in January 1831. He served several times as interim governor, and joined the army with the honorary rank of lieutenant colonel.
