The 1846 Ohio gubernatorial election was held on 13 October 1846, in order to elect the List of governors of Ohio, Governor of Ohio. Whig Party (United States), Whig nominee William Bebb defeated Democratic Party (United States), Democratic nominee David Tod and Liberty Party (United States, 1840), Liberty nominee Samuel Lewis (educator), Samuel Lewis. General election On election day, 13 October 1846, Whig Party (United States), Whig nominee William Bebb won the election by a margin of 2,385 votes against his foremost opponent Democratic Party (United States), Democratic nominee David Tod, thereby retaining Whig control over the office of Governor. Bebb was sworn in as the 19th Governor of Ohio on 12 December 1846. Results References
