Christina Nilsson
Christina Nilsson, Countess de Casa Miranda, also called Christine Nilsson (20 August 1843 – 22 November 1921) was a Swedish dramatic coloratura soprano. Possessed of a pure and brilliant voice of first three then two and a half octaves trained in the bel canto technique, and noted for her graceful appearance and stage presence, she enjoyed a twenty-year career as a top-rank international singer before her 1888 retirement. A contemporary of one of the Victorian era's most famous divas, Adelina Patti, the two were often compared by reviewers and audiences, and were sometimes believed to be rivals. Nilsson became a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music in 1869. Lars Hjortsberg
Lars Hjortsberg (22 November 1772 – 8 July 1843) was a Swedish stage actor. He belonged to the pioneer generation of elite actors of the Royal Dramatic Theatre and has, alongside Emilie Högquist, been referred to as the most famous Swedish actor of the first half of the 19th-century. Biography Lars Hjortsberg was one of six children to the stone mason Laurentius (Lars) Hjortsberg and the opera singer Maria Lovisa Schützer: he was the brother of the ballerina Hedda Hjortsberg and the actor Magnus Hjortsberg. He married Sofia Katarina di Dosmo, daughter to an Italian employee of the royal stables, and became the father of actor Carl Edvard Hjortsberg (1804–1857) and father-in-law of Fanny Westerdahl. Lilly Engström
Lilly Engström (1843–1921) was a Swedish women's rights activist and civil servant. In 1890, she became the first female member of a Board of education in Sweden, after a reform the year prior, in which women were allowed to serve on governmental boards. Life Engström graduated from the Högre lärarinneseminariet in 1864 and was a teacher at the Statens normalskola för flickor in 1864–1907. She was a member of the board of the Fredrika-Bremer-Förbundet in 1884–1920, of the Svenska lärarinnors pensionsförening (Retirement fund for female teachers) in 1873–1920, engaged in the women's suffrage movement and regarded as a pioneer of the ''Pedagogiska sällskapet'' (Pedagogic Society). Engström was a member of the women's association Nya Idun, founded in 1885, and was one of its first committee members. Anna Nordlander
Anna Catharina Nordlander (28 October 1843 – 26 February 1879), was a Swedish painter. She is known for her portraits and her depictions of genre- nature- and folk life: she is also counted as a pioneer in the illustration of the lives of the Forest Sami (''Skogssamar'') of northern Sweden. Biography Anna Nordlander was born in the vicarage at Skellefteå in Västerbotten County, Sweden to Nils Nordlander (1796–1874) and Anna Maria Gestrin. Her father was parish vicar and in 1841 among the founders of the town of Skellefteå. She studied at the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts (1866) under Jean-François Portaels in Brussels and at the Académie Julian in Paris. Nordlander is represented in several Swedish museums including the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm. She was not particularly acknowledged until the late 20th-century.
