is the largest Norwegian biographical encyclopedia. The first edition (NBL1) was issued between 1921 and 1983, including 19 volumes and 5,100 articles. It was published by Aschehoug with economic support from the state. bought the rights to NBL1 from Aschehoug in 1995, and after a pre-project in 1996–97 the work for a new edition began in 1998. Eric Gustaf Tunmarck (1 May 1729 – 1789) was a Swedish-Norwegian painter. Biography He was born in Gothenburg, Sweden. His apprenticeship was with Jacob von Schönfeldt (1709–1766) in Gothenburg. He arrived in Kongsberg Kongsberg () is a historical mining town and municipality in Buskerud, Viken county, Norway. Peder Hjort or Peder Hiort (1715 – 1 August 1789) was a Norwegian businessperson. Peder Pedersen Hjort was born in the mining town of Røros in Sør-Trøndelag as the youngest of six children. His family originated in Schleswig-Flensburg. He attended the Trondheim Cathedral School and was trained at the University of Copenhagen as a theologian graduating in 1737. In 1743, he was appointed to a position with the Copper Works at Røros. Karen Wedel-Jarlsberg
Christiane Andrea "Karen" Wedel-Jarlsberg (née Anker; 2 November 1789 in Christiania (now Oslo) – 19 June 1849 on Bogstad gård), was a Norwegian countess and lady in waiting. Life Karen Wedel-Jarlsberg was the only surviving child and heir of landowner and prime minister Peder Anker and Anna Elisabeth Cold (1749–1803). She was one of the richest heirs in Norway. Peter Christian Knudtzon
Peter Christian Knudtzon (19 March 1789–17 November 1864) was a Danish businessman and ship-owner. He was one of the largest traders in Iceland in the middle of the 19th century. He owned Amaliegade 14 in Copenhagen. He was the father of Governor of the Bank of Denmark . Early life and family background Knudtzon was born on 19 March 1789 in Kristiansund, Norway, the son of merchant Nicolay Heinrich Knudtzon (1751–1842) and Janicke Fasting (1762–1848).
