Ange Hyacinthe Maxence, Baron De Damas
Ange Hyacinthe Maxence de Damas de Cormaillon, baron de Damas (30 September 1785 – 6 May 1862), was a French general and statesman who participated in the Napoleonic Wars on the Russian side before returning to France after Napoleon's exile. Upon his return to France, he continued his military career and entered into politics, eventually becoming the Minister of War and the Minister of Foreign Affairs under the Capetian kings. Early life After his father Charles's death at Quiberon, Maxence de Damas, maternally a great-grandson of the Irish war hero General Sarsfield, was led by his uncle the Duke of Richelieu, who presented him to Czar Paul I to join the military cadet school in Saint Petersburg. He began a distinguished military career in the service of Czar Alexander. He participated in the European campaigns against the armies of Napoleon and entered Paris. Jean-François Pilâtre De Rozier
Jean-François Pilâtre de Rozier () was a French chemistry and physics teacher, and one of the first pioneers of aviation. He made the first manned free balloon flight with François Laurent d'Arlandes on 21 November 1783, in a Montgolfier balloon. He later died when his balloon crashed near Wimereux in the Pas-de-Calais during an attempt to fly across the English Channel. His companion Pierre Romain and he thus became the first known fatalities in an air crash. Early life He was born in Metz, the third son of Magdeleine Wilmard and Mathurin Pilastre, known as "de Rozier", a former soldier who became an innkeeper. His interests in the chemistry of drugs had been awakened in the military hospital of Metz, an important garrison town on the border of France. Donatien Nonnotte (10 January 1708 – 4 February 1785) was a French people, French painter who specialized in portrait painting, portraiture. A native of Besançon, Nonnotte was received by the Académie royale de peinture et de sculpture in 1741 as a portrait painter. In 1754, he moved to Lyon, where he obtained the title of "official painter" of the town in 1762. Most notably, he taught François-Hubert Drouais. Marquis De Bussy-Castelnau
Charles Joseph Patissier, Marquis de Bussy-Castelnau (8 February 1718 or 8 February 1720 – 7 January 1785) or Charles Joseph Patissier de Bussy was the Governor General of the French colony of Pondicherry from 1783 to 1785. He served with distinction under Joseph François Dupleix in the East Indies, receiving the Order of Saint Louis. He contributed to the recovery from Britain of Pondicherry in 1748, and was named in 1782 to lead all French military forces beyond the Cape of Good Hope. He coordinated his operations with Pierre André de Suffren and fought against the British during the Indian campaigns of the American War of Independence. Marie Durand
Marie Durand (1711–1776), was a French Protestant. She was famously imprisoned in the Tour de Constance (Aigues-Mortes) from 25 August 1730 for attending a Huguenot assembly with her mother, or perhaps because her brother, Pierre Durand, was a well-known preacher, or perhaps because of her marriage. Early life Marie was born to Etienne and Claudine Durand from the hamlet of Le Bouchet near Privas in France. Her older brother Pierre became well known as a Huguenot preacher and pastor. Her father Etienne who was consular registrar of the parish was arrested in February, 1729. He was jailed in Brescou at the fort where he was interned for fourteen years. Marie married a much older man who was at least in his forties, Mathieu Serres, later that same year. Her father Etienne was finally released as ninety-two year old although he only had a further two years to conclude his ruined life. Laurent Clerc
Louis Laurent Marie Clerc (; 26 December 1785 – 18 July 1869) was a French teacher called "The Apostle of the Deaf in America" and was regarded as the most renowned deaf person in American Deaf History. He was taught by Abbé Sicard and deaf educator Jean Massieu, at the Institution Nationale des Sourds-Muets in Paris. With Thomas Hopkins Gallaudet, he co-founded the first school for the deaf in North America, the Asylum for the Education and Instruction of the Deaf and Dumb, on April 15, 1817, in the old Bennet's City Hotel, Hartford, Connecticut. The school was subsequently renamed the American School for the Deaf and in 1821 moved to 139 Main Street, West Hartford. The school remains the oldest existing school for the deaf in North America. Achille Libéral Treilhard
Achille Libéral, count Treilhard (22 December 1785 - 3 August 1855) was a French lawyer and administrator. He was briefly Prefect of Police in Paris in 1830. Napoleonic era Achille Libéral, count Treilhard was the son of Jean-Baptiste Treilhard (1742-1810), a lawyer, parliamentarian and one of the editors of the French Civil Code, and Edmée Elisabeth Boudot (died 1805). He was born in Paris on 27 December 1785. Treilhard was appointed Auditor of the Council of State in 1806, and named secretary-general of the prefecture of the Seine on 25 February 1809. After the union of Catalonia with France he was appointed Prefect of Barcelona, and held that position when the First French Empire collapsed in 1814. Achille Léonce Victor Charles, 3rd Duke of Broglie (; 28 November 178525 January 1870), briefly Victor de Broglie, was a French peer, statesman, and diplomat. Carlos Luis Federico de Brandsen (Paris, November 28, 1785 – Battle of Ituzaingó, February 20, 1827) was a Colonel of France, French origin who fought in many of the South American wars of independence and for Argentina in the Cisplatine War, War with Brazil.
